I like using Claude Code for many tasks, but I feel Gemini has been giving me better results for SQL queries, particularly for BigQuery. Maybe Gemini has better knowledge there, which would not be surprising.

Don’t want the costs to spiral out of control I have a subscription to ActivePipe through my brokerage, which i’m considering but it’s the opposite of lightweight. Even getting a single email uploaded in the system is an ordeal Any suggestions?

@BetterRetail @kurtinc I also typically recommend turning on the BigQuery link to get raw data and store it permanently. Then you can roll your own reports.

@kurtinc I felt the same but after a training session from Michael Whitaker (@monitus) I changed my thinking. Michael built for me all the reports I need.

GA4 so much more painful to use than UA, right? It's bad to the point that I've been avoiding it and using Shopify Analytics instead whenever possible. I can't be the only one looking for other options. Are there any worthwhile alternatives to Google Analytics?

No pagination in #GA4 explorations? Explorations are the only way to do proper segmentation, but you won't be able see more than 500 rows

...and that's all there is to it. This can help the LLM navigate unruly queries and is more interpretable for the reader. There is also ongoing work to implement zero-shot CoT for SQL in @langchain. Exciting times! (4/4)

One of the key ideas is analytics is "segment or die" and that data in aggregate is not good enough. Boy don't they keep segmentation hidden in GA4. Can't apply segments to main reports and missing in API too. I guess everyone using BigQuery instead?

@AdiPolak Looks interesting! Trying out the lakeFS playground, which has some parquet files. Are there any setup steps to do as I just get "This file type isn't supported for viewing"?

Trying out Vertex AI. Watch out for cost. Trained a model and it seems to run the full node-hours you specify. I assumed it would run a fraction of that since I used a small toy dataset. Ain't cheap if you just want to muck around and get into machine learning.
