@acathleen5 @DI313_ Doesn’t matter… it’s about insurance. No insurance = no oil

⚡BREAKING 🇮🇷🇨🇳
Iran has stated that only China will be permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz, describing the move as a gesture of appreciation for Beijing’s support of Tehran during the war.
All other vessels are barred from passage, and Iranian authorities have warned that any unauthorized attempt to cross will be directly engaged by its forces.

@notayesmansecon Sorry I didn’t type that properly. I’m not questioning what you said, rather wondering why the markets would welcome this result? What are they seeing? Stability from green/labour? Chaos if reform had got in?
English

@mr_james_c Take a look at all the pilots leaving for emirates/saudia.
English

Wait until you calculate the outflows of the sub-millionaires who have left.
camilo@AscendedYield
The UK saw a net outflow of 16,500 millionaires last year, equating to $91.8bn in investable wealth

@CutMyTaxUK @resfoundation @resfoundation is such a dangerous cult. They will ruin this country if given any more influence.
English

@resfoundation So Local Govt. spending should be reduced. But no doubt you don't want to do that.
English

@SPD_travels Was this operated by Norse? Didn’t know indigo were operating into Manchester.
English

@LongShanks1814 @2147mill It’s only in NI contributions not tax. Plus a SIPP will be subject to the same rules.
English

@CutMyTaxUK @joshglancy But who would step in? Torsten Bell***? It’ll only be some other potentially even further left socialite.
English

"Exhausted" Rachel Reeves could be on the way out. "To what extent is she fully in charge of Britain’s economic policy if her policies keep getting reversed", asks @joshglancy in the Times.
He quotes a Labour insider who asks “What is the political economy of this government? The first budget was supposed to be about growth. Then the second one was about carving out some fiscal headroom & alleviating child poverty & the cost of living. What will the third one be about? How does it all join together? Where are we going?”
Good questions, to which no-one appears to have an answer, least of all those 'in charge' of our government.

English

@jimstinson Sorry about that, Jim. 'Window seat' refers to the position, as opposed to be aisle side. Are you able to move to another seat with a window view available? - Carmen

@ChrisEngland81 @_Unknown_D_ Because their whole reason for existence is to penalise what is perceived as success. They need to be seen to appeal to the workers and unions at all costs and keep their core voters onside.
English

@_Unknown_D_ Why do you think that is?
I'm not disagreeing, but I can't get my head around why Labour wouldn't want more money to spend, to pay off a little of our debt, and another 5 years in power.
Are we missing something when it comes to a flat rate of tax?
English

@2147mill @_alphashark_ Both for me. Though more the latter.
£1mil is a distant dream.

£1m in something like JEPQ at a 10% yield = £100,000 a year in income.
That’s over £8,000 a month.
Not from a job.
From your portfolio.
You don’t need to sell assets.
You don’t need to time markets.
You just let cashflow hit your account.
That’s the difference between working for money… and money working for you.
English

Rachel from accounts gives 18–39 year olds an instant 25% return on their money.
Most people have no idea it even exists.
It’s called a Lifetime ISA.
Put in £4,000.
The government adds £1,000.
Instantly.
Every year until you’re 50.
That’s free money.
No other country offers this.
Americans don’t get it.
Australians don’t get it.
Canadians don’t get it.
They’d kill for it.
Most people here either ignore it or think it’s “just for buying a house.”
It isn’t. You can use it for retirement too.
£4,000 a year for 30 years at 8% becomes £566,000.
You put in £120,000.
Rachel from accounts gave you £30,000.
Compounding did the rest.
We’ve been handed a cheat code for young people to build wealth - and most never press start.
Have you?

June 2024: @Keir_Starmer said “there’s no evidence that [private schools] will close” in relation to VAT on school fees.
November 2024: @TorstenBell said an additional 100 private schools would close over 3 years.
One year later, over 100 have closed.
Educational vandalism.

Could Labour politicians please stop saying that they are "asking" people to pay more taxes. They are not. They are forcing us to pay more tax under the threat of imprisonment or bankrupty.
The latest weasel words come from Wes Streeting who says in a puff piece "I’m really uncomfortable with the level of taxation in this country. We’re asking a lot of individual taxpayers, we’re asking a lot of businesses.”

English

@ToryWipeout It’s really brilliant labour are tanking the economy facilitating these cuts. Soon as a bonus non of us will have jobs and we’ll all reap the rewards of the new benefits package. Buzzing!
English

@SPD_travels Awesome for skiing. Fantastic pizzeria just outside the terminal too (though I haven’t been for 15 years).
English

@TorstenBell You are living in a fantasy world Torsten. Businesses, high earners, low earners, middle earners, wealth generators are all in disbelief at your appalling start.
English

There's a lot more to be done to bring about the change people voted for. But I'm proud to be part of a UK Gov that's tackling child poverty, putting more money into public services in Wales, boosting wages and cutting energy bills for us all.
