As we wrap up @ncahec's Future Health Professionals Week, we celebrate the impact that Health Careers had in 2025: ➡️ Health care careers were promoted to almost 3,000 pre-college youth from 63 NC counties. ➡️ 230 AHEC Scholars from 42 NC colleges were supported. ➡️ 188 events were held in 32 NC counties. ➡️ Over 30,000 participant contact hours were awarded. Today, as part of @ncahec's Future Health Professionals Week, we’re shining a light on the critical shortage of healthcare workers across North Carolina. Almost one third of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions are unfilled, and 13% of Registered Nurse (RN) roles remain vacant (workforceforhealth.org/news/nc-health…). The good news is that Community Health Workers are playing a key role in easing NC’s nursing shortage. They extend the reach of the healthcare system by providing education, informal counseling, and outreach to people in their communities.
