Niagara Falls Murals

Our Niagara Falls National Heritage Area is seeking four artists to paint murals on Main Street and Depot Avenue in Niagara Falls, NY onsite of our Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center. Artists are invited to submit their qualifications at forms.gle/zjqz4h21P6NDGj…

It's officially spring, and while it might take the weather a little while to get the memo, we're excited for warmth and sun because that means perfect days for strolling around Niagara Falls and exploring our murals! The start of new mural projects is just around the corner!

Upon meeting John Lewis' family and studying his history, Buffalo artist Princessa Williams chose this specific image and quote, "Enjoy this day that God has given us," because it spoke to her not only as an artist, but as a woman of color - which she is first.

Princessa Williams' mural depicts the late John Lewis, American politician & civil rights activist. Princessa is an artist from Buffalo who works with paint to create illustrations that express emotions & to bring history & culture to life.

Madonna Pannell is an artist who was born and raised in Niagara Falls. In 2018, she received her B.F.A in Studio Arts with a minor in Art History at the Rochester Institute of Technology and an A.S. in Business Administration at Niagara County Community College.

This year marks the bicentennial celebration of Harriet Tubman’s birth, and she is immortalized in Niagara Falls thanks to the lovely “Harriet Tubman: A Light of Hope” mural by Madonna Pannell.

Art has always been a big part of Edreys Wajed's life. In 2017, he worked on the Freedom Wall with Albright-Knox. His John "Spider" Martin mural with NF Murals was his largest up to that point.

Edreys Wajed completed the John "Spider" Martin mural in 2019 to honor the prodigal musician who toured with the likes of Miles Davis and other famous musicians of his day. See more of Edreys' work at edreys.com.

Imani Williamson has been involved in the fine arts for a long time. She attended Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and went to Daemen College, where she first studied animation and then switched to illustration. The Historic Cataract House mural is her first.

With the new Cataract House Restaurant & Academy's grand opening this evening, it's the perfect day to feature artist Imani Williamson's mural paying tribute to the Historic Cataract House and the Black waiters there who led double lives as secret Underground Railroad agents.

“Women Empowerment” is Amira Moore’s first mural. She wanted the piece to honor the achievements of women, the courage it takes to stand up for what you believe, and the power that comes from women rising up together.

Amira Moore has been an artist all her life & works in visual & digital art. Inspired by Black history & culture, she has created works depicting heroes such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Harriet Tubman, as well as pieces honoring Black Lives Matter and gender equality movements.

Tyshaun Tyson, aka “The Left-Handed Bandit,” is an independent artist out of Buffalo who specializes in traditional and urban art. He's proficient in multiple mediums, including drawing, airbrushing, painting, photography and more.

Happy Valentine's Day! What better mural to feature than "A Niagara Falls Love Story," painted by Tyshaun Tyson. Tyshaun was inspired by Charles B. Hayes, the first Black physician in Niagara Falls, and the work that he and his wife Alice did in the community.
