Looks like I've finally cracked the code for my meta ads. Getting proper CPL/CAC = more new subs again.
Probably not reaching 10k in 2025 which has become my biggest, most arbitrary goal. Ha ha

@TJLarkin23 Just started a campaign today doing this after listening to the pod, curious to see the results!

creating a meta ad now specifically to target local businesses owners wanting to advertise in the newsletter
have heard of people trying this and failing, but Ashlyn was just on my show explaining that she's getting SMB owners to submit a meta form for under $1
she literally had to turn it off because she couldn't keep up with the leads coming in
really hope i have the same problem
going to give it a shot on two different areas, and see how it goes

@itsjohnapolinar Ah nice, I’ve been using Instantly for the past bit but it can be a pain sometimes, might have to try that out

@TJLarkin23 How are you outsourcing the production of all your newsletters? Have you hired writers / VAs / using AI? About to start expanding and I’m interested to know how you do it

Wrapped the books for the first year of local newsletter #1.
Net revenue of $53K. Part time. Full time job. Dad. Husband. All that stuff.
Just do it. If you’re not then you’re losing money. It’s not passive, but it’s not crazy.
4 more on the way 🚀!

@HoodyAndShorts @TJLarkin23 Great idea. My town has a lot of discussion about bylaws and I like to poll my audience then post the results on IG. Usually lots of comments and good engagement

Listened to @TJLarkin23’s pod on local newsletter polls.
We built a daily poll engine using Perplexity’s API — it scrapes trending Reddit Qs about our area and auto-generates 3 poll ideas, sent to Slack. Totally dialed into what locals are actually talking about.

@lifeof_scoop Can confirm that it’s definitely the hardest part. Don’t like to AI this part.
Also, stealing this 100%

@NickHageman3 Ive seen this a bit, its hard to tell for sure because the algorithm sways so heavy. I’ve had multiple posts that have only been shown to 1/4 of my following, sometimes local content can only be so engaging lol.

crossed 60k subs this weekend
training sales guy this week, hopefully a second later this month
first primary advertiser getting tons of qualified leads, and is very happy
signed with fourth SMB owner, a realtor, to build out his local newsletter
doing a call with a potential 5th in five minutes
great episode with @CreatingJas about launching home service biz on back of newsletter just went live
feeling good!

Just quit my very comfy job to go full time on my local newsletter:
Can either be the worst or best decision in my life.
Excited to see how it plays out!

@itsjohnapolinar 100% my cost has doubled. Put up some new creatives today and yesterday and they have not been performing very well
English

@lifeof_scoop How to structure sales calls. Many people hardly know what an email newsletter is, so how do you educate while also getting the value across?
