If they promote local trade and reduce the amount of exports/imports, isn't that a win for the environment? I am confused why they are seen so negatively if they can help lower the carbon footprint generated by all this trade.

1.4 Million sanitary towels are flushed down UK toilets every single day.. they enter waterways after storms, just like the one we saw last week and because of their plastic content they break down into microplastics which have numerous environmental impacts. Please don't flush!
