@CristusVictor I think if you view looksmaxxers as art projects instead of role models it redeems them a little, because they interact with the culture we live in and exaggerate it in an art type of way

While this is resourceful, the looksmaxxing trend is objectively homosexual. I have always had deep convictions about health and aesthetics, but real beauty is not merely surface. It’s emergent. The artist starts with a vision, but the masterpiece is realized through painstaking work. Contained in the masterpiece is the marks of his process. We live in a world surrounded by ugliness. Ugly homes, ugly people, ugly public spaces, ugly stores, ugly everything. In my home we work together to surround ourselves with beauty. It doesn’t even have to be all that expensive. Same with wardrobe and personal presentation. There is a process and effort put into it that cannot be replicated by mass-manufactured goods or merely throwing money at it. Plenty of wealthy people have terrible taste. The aesthetic beauty of a man is not merely in looking good or presenting himself stylishly, but in the work and the internal effort and endurance of body, spirit, and mind coupled with an intentional dignity. The beauty is derivative. This extraction and compartmentalization of “looks” without regard for the substance is superficial, and therefore homosexual. I do not call it homosexual because it concerns itself with beauty. Being concerned with beauty, and cultivating and protecting it, is perhaps the most masculine trait of all.

@dystopiangf The underappreciated but necessary element to this mission is being *emotionally connected to the moment*, if we're gonna "create" something novel that carries beauty it has to be rooted in experience and life, both traditionalism and futurism miss this

Conservatives are largely wrong about aesthetics. We shouldn’t look to the past for beauty. The solution to modern ugliness is not to copy-paste Greek statues or Renaissance oil paintings; this would actually be an expression of defeat and creative infertility, a humiliation, an admission that our imagination has been beaten out of us. We’ve been traumatized by anti-Western left-wing movements to believe that anything new must also be ugly and filthy. The answer to the trauma we’ve suffered is not to be afraid or to regress, but to boldly create something new *and beautiful.* This is right-wing futurism at its core: the conviction that new and beautiful things are possible, and that it’s our primary duty to create them

the challenge of the modern world is a lack of aliveness; we're missing a visceral sense of connection to the moment what deepens this challenge is that we keep seeking aliveness in external things (money, relationships, achievement) rather than through the practice of presence

@jq_cat @PoFPodcast What explains the psychological attraction to making cryptic posts? I tend to be drawn towards being enigmatic as well, it feels right, but often doesn't work

@PoFPodcast Btw.. if you want to appease the algo, then you need to understand how recommendation systems work. So instead of relying on cryptic posts, you need to craft(!) posts in a way their models consider it appealing to users to push them up in the x.com/jq_cat/status/…
Cat@jq_cat

Twitter open-sourced their algo but it's worthless. It basically says "we use scoring to compile your feed". They omitted the internals of their Phoenix Scorer which determines the base score for those calculations. They just say "it makes predictions". x.com/XEng/status/20…
