On May 31, Wonpil performed at Beautiful Mint Life 2026 held at the Culture Depot in Mapo-gu, Seoul. This marked the first time since DAY6’s 2015 debut that he appeared at a festival all by himself without the other members. Even more impressively, for his first solo appearance, he secured the headliner spot on the main stage (Mint Breeze Stage), proving his remarkable status. This achievement isn’t hard to understand. Since DAY6’s first solo concert at Move Hall in Mapo in 2015, Wonpil has spent the last 11 years steadily building his experience, performing at increasingly larger venues, from smaller live halls all the way up to major arenas and stadiums like KSPO Dome, Gocheok Sky Dome, and Goyang Stadium. He also has extensive experience through overseas tours and festival stages. Based on this, he previously performed as a headliner at major festivals such as Seoul Jazz Festival 2024 and Grand Mint Festival 2024. On top of that, his second solo concert, “Unpiltered,” held over three days earlier this month, sold out completely. Backed by the love and support of countless My Day, Wonpil stepped onto the Beautiful Mint Life stage and completely dominated the venue for about an hour starting at 7.10PM, delivering outstanding live vocals and stage presence so natural it seemed rhythm was simply part of him. Despite the intense heat, the venue was fully packed, from the standing section to the picnic zones, showing the explosive anticipation surrounding solo artist Wonpil’s festival debut. His setlist was just as strong as his vocals Opening with “Toxic Love” and “Already Grown Up,” accompanied by a live band, Wonpil greeted the crowd. “I’m truly grateful to be standing on the BML stage like this. Since I’ve been here before as DAY6, it feels familiar to me. It’s really hot for everyone standing here today, so I hope you all take care of yourselves and enjoy this performance with me until the very end.” He also performed “Someday, Spring Will Come” and “Last Goodbye,” saying, “As time passes, spring feels shorter and shorter. In life too, spring can sometimes feel brief. For those of you going through a cold winter right now, I’ll sing this w all my heart for you.” Reflecting on time passing, he shared “The older I get, the faster time seems to pass. I want to hold onto it, but I can’t, and that makes growing older feel a little sad.” Then, reminding everyone of his identity, he added, “Since I’m still DAY6, I can’t leave out the keyboard.” He also sat at the piano and passionately performed “Piano.” When he began singing DAY6’s hit “You Were Beautiful,” inviting everyone to sing along, the crowd erupted into a massive singalong. Wonpil jokingly said, “Some of you might be seeing me for the first time, but from now on, you’re My Day. Audience members playfully responded with “I’m a My Day starting today!” Riding that energy, he continued with solo songs like “Stranded,” “Up All Night,” “Highs and Lows,” and EoD track “Home Alone”, followed by “Step by Step,” heating up the atmosphere even more. The performance coincided with sunset, creating a visual embodiment of romance. The closing song was “A Journey.” This 2022 track has become known for climbing music charts every New Year’s Day, repeatedly fulfilling Wonpil’s initial dream of creating “music that never ages.” He ended by saying, “Thank you so much to everyone who came today. Please get home safely and take care until the very end.
