my website is down because namecheap didn't auto renew it despite sending me an auto renewal notice and I'll get it back up later after paying their higher renewal cost than the one that was in that notice which I assume is why they didn't auto renew to begin with

electron is just more mature and the chrome webview is so much better than webkit

we've moved opencode desktop to electron. it's faster, more reliable, and will replace our tauri build soon. try it out in beta via the link below.

@kevinkern @thdxr tauri's render backend is swappable, it already supports servo and there's a CEF branch that's well underway, they could have just contributed upstream instead of rewriting their whole app

tbh understand the move. electron ships one known chromium runtime, while tauri inherits the host webview stack, so cross-platform behavior is less deterministic (which probably fills more github issues over time).
and critic is bit off point since in tauri you work also with e.g. react/solid in the frontend. and switching to electron does not mean dropping rust, it still can be kept in backend

this reproduces on my claude code at max, xhigh, low, and no thinking. only this that doesn't break is my custom ultraultrathink and /btw sidechannel. the full ultraultrathink is just ridiculous. will definitely have to tweak it. it took like 14 minutes to be like "LOGIC: F----- object is to drive" and then rated it walk anyway. trying to fix and also make my epistemic guard better.

the window for experimenting with llms has basically closed now. the megacorps have fully hit escape velocity and are shipping new products and new features daily. the shift is that they’re not just shipping llms anymore, they’re using llms to build products and improve existing ones at scale. the wild west era of llms isn’t really the wild west anymore. a year ago, this could’ve been an indie dev side project, maybe even a monetizable product. it was literally so easy that the only real bottleneck was your free time. now, whatever idea you have, you should basically assume google/anthropic/oai will build some version of it within a week and wipe out most of the startup surface area around it
