When the Tongdale has winter wheat it grows a lovely crop of poppies and they’re always welcome. A group of walkers just told me that they wish all farms were like this - If you’d like more #organic farms buy more British organic food, it’s as simple as that!

For every acre of #organic cereals there will be at least 1/3 acre of flower rich ley supporting pollinators. No herbicides means the cereals crop has flowering plants within the crop again feeding insects. No other farming system supports pollinators as #organic does.

Totally agree Dave, including the ‘buy organic food’ bit - organic demand directly leads to more pesticide free farmland where nature has a home alongside nutritious food production rather than being excluded from it #chooseorganic

Always intrigued by end goal of posts like this. The implication is that commercial farming is awful so simply if we stop that everything will be fine. But there’s never recognition of the fact that commercial farming is what provides us with what we need to survive. Food. 1/ 🧵
