A high-level auto industry source told me that all companies are under strict instructions from the Govt. to keep silent on the issues being caused due to Ethanol. Similar pressure on auto publications and journalists to not reveal the true state of affairs.
Rattan Dhillon@ShivrattanDhil1

There are roughly 100 influential automotive journalists in India who help shape public opinion and the direction of the auto industry. Yet not one of them is seriously questioning ethanol blending, E85, isobutanol in diesel, or the long-term impact these policies may have on consumers. The silence is deafening. Why? Because speaking against powerful interests comes at a cost. I have experienced it myself. When I criticized Mahindra, people connected to the company started making inquiries about me, my earnings, and even attempted to influence me. Now there are efforts to pursue defamation claims. When I spoke about Tata’s vehicles, I was subjected to personal attacks, and event invitations for my team were affected. Recently, after posting a video about ethanol, I received pressure and threats that ultimately led to the video being taken down. This is why I openly say that much of the automotive media ecosystem is compromised. Paid promotions, paid tweets, and sponsored narratives are far more common than people realize. I know how these systems work, and I believe that is one of the reasons why very few are willing to speak critically about ethanol-related policies. The reality is that millions of consumers will be affected by these decisions. Don’t wait for journalists to be your voice people must speak for themselves. As for me, I will continue to ask questions and share my views. I have never done paid posts, and I never will. No amount of pressure, influence, or money will change that! 🙏🏻

@ShivrattanDhil1 Only solution is let all vehicle owners file a PIL in the Supreme Court against the ethanol ministry

And here it is! RIP cars in India! At this point, only an idiot would buy a new car without questioning what lies ahead! I wouldn’t be surprised if Isobutanol trials have already started, just like ethanol blending did. We’re already hearing of diesel vehicles facing fuel pump failures, DPF issues, and other fuel-related problems. What’s even more concerning is that many owners of 100% diesel vehicles are already reporting a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency. I’ve personally seen reduced mileage in vehicles like the Toyota Hilux and Innova. If new fuels are being tested or blended, the public has a right to know. I’m ready to put my own vehicle up for testing, but don’t make millions of vehicle owners unknowing participants in an experiment. Transparency should come first! 🙏🏻 @nitin_gadkari @HardeepSPuri

“Literally every car is facing issues now! Don’t tell me that along with ethanol problems, we now have contaminated diesel too! Hey @grok , can you please tell me after refuelling diesel from a unfamiliar petrol pump in my Toyota Hilux this engine warning light showed up. Could it be related to bad fuel, or is it a DPF issue or some other issue?

@iamrakeshbansal On one side they talk about reducing dependency on oil,on other side they are taxing & restricting silver which would effect Solar & EV’s and make them costlier to make than China. One of the most stupid & foolish decision taken by the govt.

Government of India just restricted silver bar imports! High-purity silver bars (99.9%+) that were freely importable are now under “Restricted” category. Importers will need prior approval. Big policy change with immediate effect. niftykaboss.com

KNOW YOUR TABLES. On 5th Sept 2025,U.S commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick said: "In a month or 2 month, India will be on the table, & say sorry". Now, he's in India to attend a marriage and on India's table. TABLES TURN?

@dmuthuk The current government is interested in only increasing freebies at tax payers cost to win elections. They are least concerned whether FIIs invest or not. They are happy that they are winning elections even though we are the worst performing stock market & currency in the world

FIIs are continuing to sell heavily. It can be for any number of reasons right from identifying better opportunities elsewhere to being unhappy with returns post tax and rupee depreciation. A responsible government need to invite FIIs for a meeting and understand their concerns. Pitching India as a favourable investment destination and removing any irritants is one of the major responsibility of any government. It is not that we should frame our policies according to whims and fancies of foreign investors. What is surprising is government not engaging in a dialogue to understand their pain points and why they are moving away from India.
