It is with tremendous sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our client and friend George Baldock. We kindly ask everyone to please respect the family's need for privacy in this difficult time.

Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player, George Baldock. The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane and was extremely popular with supporters, staff and team-mates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him. The sincere condolences of everyone associated with Sheffield United are extended to George’s family and friends.

George, it was a privilege to have known you.

Numbing to hear of George Baldock’s passing, a man with so much still ahead of him in life as a husband, father, brother and son. George was super person and fantastic professional who was admired and adored by all who worked with him. My prayers are with his loved ones right now

Congratulations to @XabiAlonso and all at Bayer Leverkusen on their first Bundesliga title. Thanks to Kim Falkenberg and Keld Bordinggaard at the club for arranging a recent visit, sharing ideas and giving insights into the work behind the club’s tremendous success.

Bramall Lane on a match day will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved it! When the dust settles, that is what will bring me back. I hope to catch up with many of you then. In the meantime, keep supporting your team.

Finally, a message to the fans. Thank you for your support. You are what made the journey so special and many of my fondest memories are of the players and fans celebrating our victories together.

I leave @SheffieldUnited after three and a half years with many great memories created by many great people.

Sad day. Maddy was one of our family. A big part of our club both on and off the pitch. Love and thoughts to Maddy’s family.
