Me every time I sit down to write something new, even after all these years:

one overgeneralized takeaway might be that too many submissions feel like the poem/story/essay/whatever feel like it never surprised itself/the author

When I'm editing my own piece, I find no mistakes. When my piece is published, I found every misspelled word and punctuation error.

@StanchionZine It matters SO much. I speak for myself and I’m sure countless others. But to have my words I print in such a beautiful magazine means the world to me.

Yes, yes I have been feeling like nothing I do with Stanchion matters, that the care and effort don't really matter, and that people don't actually give a shit. The mind is a terrible thing. Full stop.

@kisses4proust @StanchionZine I second this. I’d be fine buying if I knew up front about it and/or it was discounted, but I’d be a little annoyed seeing it if it wasn’t expected

@StanchionZine sell them but offer a tiny discount for print flaws. Maybe 10% off? Plenty of people (me!) would gladly buy them and it’s an eco friendly alternative to trashing it!

Question for ya: In the indie lit / chapbook world, is a slight cover art/spine printing issue okay to sell...in the spirit of, "hey, budgets are minuscule and tight, and sometimes mistakes happen when you don't control the printing process from start to finish" or nah?

I was just downsized from the copywriter job that paid a lot of my bills, so yeah, if anyone wants to buy books or pre-order Issue 12 of the magazine, that'd BE GREAT. 😭

@ambernoelle @WaywardChad Exactly! I got a cheap backpack for my kid last year and it developed holes before the end of the school year. The one I got from Pottery Barn this year is still in perfect condition and she can use it again next year.

@DoctaValle @zfelice @Momademia And I still had tell her at the end “ok, I don’t think you need this anymore, let’s just cuddle.” Even though it was just the once a day. But she was fine with it at that point.

@DoctaValle @zfelice @Momademia I’m the wrong person to ask cause I went far longer than 14 months, but at the end it was only at night before bedtime - is he with you all day? It helped us when I was away at work during the day and stopped pumping so she got used to not having it around all the time.

Finding out a submission was rejected because you see the publication announce on social media that the issue is now live, but they never even sent a form rejection email.
