@MikeBeauvais @hoplitnet I would say Twitter, TikTok, Instagram

@zillowgonewild Yes! I had hoped the bourgeois absurdity of the plunge pool detail would put it over the top but I forgot about how Twitter works haha.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that this Frank Gehry house in Thousand Oaks, CA, known as the Sirmai–Peterson House (1988) was sold for $2,450,000 before it could ever hit the market.
But at least we can look at the photos and dream about the life we could have had.
However, I was told that the new stewards are “thoughtful and committed, and we expect the house will be exceptionally well cared for moving forward”.

This tweet was prompted by having just read this theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/03/…

@mattyglesias It seems they were annoying when handled ponderously — I don’t think most people find something like “Warning: graphic content” before video of someone being harmed or killed to be annoying, and similarly a concise “themes of sexual assault” warning etc. doesn’t seem annoying.

@ContraireSous Yes it would! Per the Property Clause of the Constitution, it would be an “ultra vires” act outside of the President’s constitutional authority unless Congress authorized it pursuant to its constitutional authority. As the judge noted, Congress has *not* delegated that authority.
English

@pimlius Congress has final say, but they delegate most of that to executive agencies. Even if congress voted to say 'no' a ballroom, that wouldn't make the previous attempt illegal.
English

I have no particular problem with the ballroom concept but this event has zero bearing on it one way or another and there’s just never been any justification at all for building a ballroom *illegally* rather than coming to congress as if we live in a constitutional republic.

I don’t want to hear one more fucking criticism of Trump’s new ballroom at the White House.
English

@ContraireSous If the Constitution gives Congress exclusive power over something and Congress has not in turn granted the power to do something within that realm to the President / Executive Branch then it is very clearly not false to say the President doing that thing is unconstitutional.
English

@pimlius being violated, but I suspect not or people would cite it instead of making obviously false claims like "it's unconstitutional!"
English

@ContraireSous Well, on the Constitutional piece, a federal judge clearly disagrees with you! Not sure what to tell you. As for your second claim, what would you call this series of numbers and letters cited by the judge as having been violated.

English

@pimlius @mattyglesias Nothing in the constitution says the executive branch can't build buildings if they have the funding already. The judge certainly didn't provide any laws that were violated.
English

@ContraireSous @mattyglesias Well, the Constitution, mainly, as well as some other laws. If you’re interested in the details (but not quite enough to Google them) here is a direct link to Judge Leon’s memorandum opinion supporting the injunction (now stayed, pending appeal): deadline.com/wp-content/upl…
