Great work by @pjacock @Llewelyn68 and Pete Thorpe, finally getting this one into the public eye! My personal takeaway from working on this is that accurate metabarcoding is much harder than most people, or publications, let on. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The @UniOslo now imposing a two-factor authentication without asking for any feedback from the scientific community. We now need to have our phone to validate the login with ssh for instance! Every freaking time... It is very annoying IMO. Also imposed on email, calendars, etc.

I see questions like, "Can I just post stuff on preprint servers instead of submitting to journals?" on Quora pretty regularly. Sure - if you don't care about having a full-time paid career in research.

@BardinLab @wolfgangkhuber Student recently told me she doesn't need to publish anything, because Biorxiv exists. Of course grant agency wanted real publications and we didn't get the grant renewal. i don't blame biorxiv but its existence gives a great excuse for lazy students not to write polished papers
