The rhetoric that South Africa is not fully free because it let white people stay here baffles me, especially when it comes from commentators who come from countries that failed to decolonize their laws and economic frameworks. You might not have whites, but your country benefits your colonizers more than it does its own citizens, what's revolutionary about that?

You can't just wake up and go to national television telling us that South Africa must absorb illegal immigrants as a solution to the current crisis. That uncritical absorption of undocumented migrants as citizens is not a solution but a collapse of cultural governance. Citizenship can not be an accidental outcome of weakened border management. Without structured regulation, such absorption produces institutional strain, deepens inequality, and ultimately benefits elites who exploit unregulated labor. This is not Pan-African solidarity but the erosion of cultural sovereign responsibility under the guise of unity.

A borderless Africa sounds powerful—but without strong systems, it’s a recipe for instability.
