@AlexanderV7051 @leonidragozin I personally know people affected by Ukraine’s kinetic sanctions, but if an X account created last month says there aren’t any, I guess I’ll have to believe him. Russia’s own media, both state and bloggers, acknowledge the strikes on the energy industry. Please troll better.

Zelensky IMHO wants to linger till US midterms (as per his publicly stated Nov deadline) and then linger on till the end of Trump’s term (as per his true intention, cited by the Economist), expecting something magic to happen, some black swan descending upon Russia and ending Putin’s regime or the West choosing to enter WWIII. Meanwhile, a black swan is descending on Europe, Ukraine’s only creditor these days, in the shape of Trump-generated fuel crisis and anti-Ukrainian parties leading in the polls in main West European countries. All the while, Zelensky doesn’t make anyone’s life easier as the Rada, controlled by his party, fails to adopted laws upon which EU’s and IMF’s funding of Ukraine hinges. All because of the magical thinking, blind trust in one’s own mendacious propaganda and the lack of any realistic plan, as Julia describes below:
Iuliia Mendel@IuliiaMendel

It’s finally clear what Zelenskyy’s big prediction about ending the war by November is actually based on. Ukrainian media—citing sources straight from Zelenskyy’s office—dropped this gem: “Intelligence data from multiple agencies agrees that if Ukraine can seize the initiative, then in about six months the Russians will start running out of available resources and will be forced into serious negotiations.” As a Ukrainian, I wanted to believe it. I really did. “The Russians are about to run out of resources”—it sounds so reassuring. But then you look at the actual world. There’s a crisis in the Middle East that’s already triggered a global energy crunch. And if we’re talking human resources, Russia has at least seven times Ukraine’s population. This isn’t strategy. This is an episode of 95th Kvartal—that Zelenskyy’s comedy show—masquerading as military analysis. Wishful thinking dressed up as intelligence. Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy facilities deep inside the country? They deliver some tactical pain, no question. But strategically? They’ve never been decisive. Meanwhile, the European Union keeps trading with Russia—actually increasing its purchases of Russian energy. Moscow is dodging sanctions left and right, and Western aid to Ukraine is shrinking in multiple areas. And here’s the kicker: right now, the United States is basically the only mediator between Ukraine and Russia. Do you really think Washington is going to be laser-focused on cutting a deal in Ukraine while it’s in the middle of a mid-term election season? From September through November? Good luck with that. So this November deadline isn’t serious analysis. It’s hope marketing. It’s designed to keep Ukrainians from leaving the country and to give Western politicians something to sell to their own voters: “Just a little more aid, folks—victory is right around the corner.” But let’s be brutally honest. If no peace treaty is signed and the hot phase of this war isn’t over by September, this conflict is rolling straight into 2027. And no amount of comedy-sketch optimism has ever survived contact with reality. Never has. Never will. The people running this narrative aren’t stupid. They just think you are.

You are holding up the peace deal Volodymyr. IT IS TIME TO ACCEPT IT. Not to mention, you are refusing to hold elections AND your government funneled money the U.S. sent to Ukraine back into Joe Biden’s re-election campaign. x.com/ZelenskyyUa/st…
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

This week, I prepared a special letter addressed to the President of the United States and to Congress. And yesterday, the letter was officially delivered to the institutions in Washington. It is quite rare for the leader of another state to address both the President and Congress of the United States simultaneously with a letter. But the situation now requires action, swift and effective action. It is important that America hear Ukraine. We understand that much of the world’s attention is currently focused on the war in Iran. But the war here in Europe must also be brought to an end – a very bloody war that is already in its fifth year at full scale. The sooner we are able to provide greater protection against ballistic threats, the sooner we will be able to make diplomacy work. As long as Russia continues to rely on missiles, its interest in diplomacy is not real. We must correct this. And we can do so only together with America. Ukraine is grateful to America for all its support. And Ukraine will be even more grateful for a dignified peace and guaranteed security. All of this is possible – if there is sufficient determination.

1/ Ukraine's ongoing drone campaign against Russian logistics has led Russian-appointed governor Vladimir Saldo to ban civilian traffic on the R-280 highway. However, as a major Russian Telegram channel points out, this makes Ukraine's job much easier. ⬇️ x.com/JimmySecUK/sta…

I'm a middle eastern historian. My own family were made refugees. And this is my honest view of the Nakba (“catastrophe”) - the displacement of around 700,000 Palestinian Arabs during the 1947–49 war surrounding the creation of Israel. A thread. 🧵

@realannapaulina Don't blame the EU for Germany's self-inflicted immigration policy, energy policy, pitiful defense spending, and excessive taxation and social spending. The AfD would reform only immigration, not nearly enough.

I recently met with a member from the German CDU. I believe Germany is about to enter a Germany First era. Which is great being that the EU has really done damage for the people of Europe especially regarding the mass “refugee” immigration importation of MAM’s raping women.

@marcelgascon @leonidragozin @IuliiaMendel If Zelensky is truly the monster that she describes, there must be dozens of people willing to come forward and corroborate. This war isn't about Zelensky, despite propaganda attempts to make it so.

Indeed. Any “cracks” in Putin’s regime are nowhere near the scale of the escalating political crisis in the EU and US. Not to mention Ukraine, where Andrii Yermak – until recently the most powerful person in the country and a pillar of the political regime – is now entangled in a major corruption and money-laundering probe that also threatens Zelensky, while Zelensky’s former press secretary goes on Tucker Carlson’s show to lambast him to a huge (and influential) international audience. This selective blindness – the incapacity to place Russia’s and Ukraine's political dynamics in comparative perspective and in the context of global disintegrative trends – is just another manifestation of the deep intellectual crisis of post-Soviet expertise. "Fast forward to 2026 and Russia feels less “finished” than ever. Instead, it has evolved into a tech-savvy 21 st -century autocracy with a highly modernized war economy. It has successfully adapted to a conflict in which it sees itself as an underdog confronting the mighty Western military industrial machine, which makes it not too concerned about inevitable setbacks. Most importantly, every alternative to Putin seems to pose risks of civil war and state collapse. To be sure, the country is going through what every Russian would admit to be a difficult period, but Putin’s Russia is showing far fewer “cracks in the regime” than the U.S.-led West, currently torn between Trump-style right-populism and Biden-style left-liberalism." theamericanconservative.com/no-russia-isnt…

🇺🇸🇺🇦👀 The US has removed Ukraine from the list of countries that were subject to automatic restrictions on arms imports, - Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Stefanishyna. The 1997 rules that equated Ukraine with Russia and other post-Soviet countries in terms of arms purchases are being repealed. Now Russia remains the only country under the ban.
