analysing every move of pre-pubescent party tvk but turning a blind eye towards the well-matured dmk when dmk is the party in power is what doesn't sit right with me, even for liberal standards

Colorism is rooted in casteism and racism, and reinforced by narrow beauty standards. Especially for women and young girls, it remains a painful, ongoing struggle. That’s why representation is so important ; so no one grows up feeling less, but seen and valued.!

Sindhuja, a 25-year-old woman is dead in Mannachanallur, all because she questioned why she wasn't given the famed 8000 coupon. According to news reports, DMK campaign workers abused and assaulted her leading up to a situation where she eventually took her own l!fe. Of course, if we talk about all this -- the immediate response is to shut down the conversation by saying people are doing this in order to control the narrative. As if women feeling safe, women having the right to not be abused/ assaulted, women having the right to live is something that has to be controlled/ coordinated/ temperature-adjusted to ensure that it does not upset the electoral aspirations of a wildly unpopular incumbent regime For years, women writers and social media users have been crying hoarse about DMK's abuse machine online that launches coordinated attacks on any woman who dares to even entertain the possibility of questioning them. Those trying to placate us would say these are frustrated people who have nothing to do with the party machinery when in fact it is the same bunch of thugs giving orders who have made any of this hate possible in the first place. Today, we are seeing it on the streets (the same entitlement, violence, impunity and as always, desperate consequences for the women concerned). Online, their caste arrogance is so deep that it makes all their social justice masks auto-shred in broad daylight. I do not have to cite individual references to show how caste-contempt is so reflexive for these guys that not even their alliance partners have been spared. They can pretend it does not exist to save face but the delegitimisation and casual humiliation cannot be erased from the memory of anyone who is chronically online and has watched all of this unfold. If this is how they treat their own political family, imagine how they see ordinary voters -- or a girl like Sindhuja who asked for a coupon. Someone must remind these power-drunk people that distributing taxpayer money is not charity or some act of generosity. For five years, welfare schemes have been tacitly deployed as weapons of control, and as if that is not enough, they expect voters to become subjects who must respond in one way only, by grovelling in gratitude. I hope in the next week people remember this arrogance and this lawlessness...

Beyond Re's many milestones, I am most proud of how Renyta opened up her world! Seeing the people around her after her PhD defense said it all. She started at 20, a quiet introvert & today, still gentle self, she has built meaningful friendships. That growth means everything 🤍
