Persistent rumors of a UAE-Pakistan rift, as Pakistan is told to repay a $3.5 billion debt. The two countries are said to now be arguing over Iran. Islamabad apparently taking a softer stance, and the UAE looking for a forceful military response to Tehran's attacks on it.

Islamabad as a venue isn’t an issue. Any other venue wouldn’t change the core issues - deep trust deficit, serious safety & security concerns for negotiators, and US maximalism. Whoever tries to host the talks will first have to overcome these formidable hurdles.

Iran reluctant to come to Islamabad for US-Iran talks, security concerns cited. Pakistan walking it back slowly now. Alternative venues floated: Doha, Istanbul, Sharm el-Sheikh. None obviously better on security. These talks were always fragile; the wider Middle East war makes them more so.

اس اسٹیج پر تو مجھے لگتا ہے کہ پاکستانیوں کو نئے ویزے ملنے میں مزید دشواری ہوسکتی ہے اورابھی تو وہ ہمارے لوگوں کو وہاں سے نہیں نکالیں گے لیکن اگر ہم اقوام متحدہ میں ہمیشہ یو اے ای کی مخالف سمت میں رہتے ہیں تو کچھ بھی ہوسکتا ہے،پاکستانیوں کی عزت اور ویزوں کے حوالے سے پاکستان کے حکام کو یو اے ای کے حکام سے بات کرنے کی ضرورت ہے۔
ہمیں بتانا چاہیے کہ ہم ایران کیخلاف کسی جارحیت کا ساتھ نہیں دے سکتے،عمران علی
