Im not a fan of big bang (and all their issues), but really - if we are going to talk about paving the way - it is not just bts. There were a lot of artists who pioneered kpop and really brought it at a global scale. Artists like big bang, girls generation, super junior, tvxq, 2ne1 and many artists worked hard to bring kpop to the world stage, and they did it during a time when social media were just starting out. Yes social media, because it made it easier for artists to break in the industry (if you have the talent). They, together with those who came before them, laid the groundwork, it is not instantaneous. kpop was already in emergence globally even before the exo, bts, blackpink etc came. Yes, bts is the biggest kpop stars in the world, no doubt about that, and they CEMENTED kpop's place in the world music, but i will not agree with their fans that they paved the way. Even BTS will not be too arrogant to claim that.
Is it just me, but I feel like BTS's fans are very toxic. So surprising as BTS members seems to be all nice.
