Exhausted! I pick swimming with turtles and watching elephants on a safari, the psychopath I married, drags me up Sigiriya (Lions Rock) in 34°C of heat 🥵 I can’t begin to tell you how tiny some of the steps were, just bolted into the side of the rock! Terrifying! But worth it!

@according2_taz The only climbing I'm willing to do is climbing onto a barstool. I went to Sturgis 6 years my friend took to a local swimming hole he didn't tell me we would be scaling 80 ft. Rock walls I broke 3 ribs & thought I'd have to be air ambulance out of there 😭

@panditaAPMCC63 If you prepare it with the firm variety of kathal, it is quite pleasant. The soft, slimy type of kathal is unpleasant: cooked or raw.

When in 1983, I tasted kathall sabzi for the Ist time in life, I felt like eating soft meat. I was a verocious meat eater that time. It was that year when we visited IVRI Bareilly U.P where my bro had joined MVSc vety that IVRI director P N Bhat a kashmiri pandit invited us at residence and Mrs. Bhat offered kathall - that was maiden to me. Let the noble couple rest in heaven. Since then I relish kathall like in today's lunch. @ManojTiwariMP @ZeeBiharNews @KhajuriaManu @NalinisKitchen @sftmumbai @reshii

Loved the Goan Bhaji Pav that I had for the first time. While ordering it,we’d imagined bhajiya (pakoras) sandwiched like a Vada Pav,but it was completely different. Its a mix of two traditional curries—potato & white pea in mildly spiced coconut gravy, served with local Goan bread.

This needs to be said: We are at Jim Corbett and apparently there is no restriction on loud music till 10:30pm in the night. The roads are full of cars speeding around, at least 30 jeeps plying in one area of the forest, you can see brunt land on both sides and massive tree felling. So guilty of attending a family wedding here, I cannot say. There’s one I skipped because I didn’t want to be a party to destroying the habitat of animals. But why is Uttarakhand government allowing weddings in a forest reserve? I know my tweet will have zero reaction but Please tag the concerned agencies when you read this. @ukcmo @uttrakhand24 @AniUttarakhand

Walls of abandoned homes crumble as they bear the toll of exodus, the weight of loss lingers through generations. Many withered away yearning for return to their beloved Kashmir. The movie 'Batt Koch' captures all nightmares, memory loss, next generation's search for a 'home'

A couple of days back at a cake shop in Calcutta, I had stepped in for a quick snack. The man in front of me had the look of someone who had been very careful, for a very long time, not to inconvenience anyone. White shirt, collar gone a bit yellow. He was buying a pineapple cake. The kind with the aggressively yellow icing. The girl at the counter asked whether any name needed to be written on the cake. The man shook his head. But she wasn’t done. “Kaar jonmodin (Whose birthday), Jethu?” she prodded. He pushed his glasses up. “Aamar (Mine),” he said. Quietly, trying to make it sound very matter-of-factly. She went still for a second. Exchanged glances with me and another customer. Then she turned toward the back where two boys were loading something in the fridge. “Shibu! Mondal!” What followed was not polished but more touching than any great musical performance. They all sang Happy Birthday to this man, and meant it, the way you can only mean something that wasn’t planned. The man turned red. He looked at his shoes. He looked at the cake. He looked at the girl. And I thought I saw a tiny smile. He didn’t say anything. Took his change, took the box. His shoulders sat differently as he stepped out onto the pavement and got swallowed up in the street crowd. I kept thinking about him for the rest of the day — this man who had turned up alone to buy himself a cake, and left a little less alone.

@KiranManral @KiritManral Scary stuff! I would say, bring this topic up to people in your circle off and on, but don't make it sound like youare an evangelist/holier-thn-thou. Where I live, there's thankfully not much obesity. Frightening, though

So thanks to a medical emergency in the family, I’m the attendant outside the icu at a lovely hospital in Kandivali. What has shocked both me and @KiritManral is the number of very obese people around here. We are a very unhealthy people and there must be some kind of public messaging about health and fitness and the health advantages of staying within appropriate BMI range. The advertising campaigns for the fat loss injectables are already in out and in our face. There’s no profit in encouraging folks to stay within a certain BMI range , is there?

My neighbor keeps her camera pointed straight at my back door. The camera is active. It swivels, so it is pointed in different directions throughout the day. 90% of the time it's pointed straight at my back door. She lives alone and usually has comments about what I'm doing around my house. It feels like every time i go out back i have this camera straight on me, then i notice the little blue motion light will activate. What's the best way to deal with this? Lattice? Plants?

So something really upsetting happened, and I found out just today. I'd been caught up over the past few days with a medical emergency, not mine this time, and hadn't really been at desk. When I checked the forms for my upcoming workshops from The Story Company India, I realised not only had someone hacked in, removed me as editor, and blocked my access to them but had also disabled the QR codes. I thought long and hard about whether I should post about this or not, then decided to post. I never did realise how nasty folks can get and I don't like to whine no matter what happens to me. And I don't really get fazed by nastiness. I just pick myself up and get on with what I have to do. So all I'm saying now is there are no forms anymore, and I will not have forms anymore. And there will be no QR codes anymore. There will only be DM for details or mail for details or whatsapp for details. And I hope you kind folk help me amplify this so these absolutely fabulous upcoming workshops get the sign ups they deserve.
