Rest – HTTP Client

We just released version 2.2.3 with plenty of json path advancements. Besides moving to a new library with more options, this release also allows saving used queries.

Version 2.2.0 integrates the Runestone framework and with that greatly improves the editor experience, especially for large responses. Thank you @simonbs for open sourcing this great framework!

@rest_client I just purchased your app but I’m having real difficulty w JSONPath. My data looks like: { "47" : { "modelid" : "TS011F", "name" : "Landscape" }, … } How can I extract all names? Would appreciate your help - even though I know it’s not an app issue ;)

@rest_client Are variable names case sensitive? Also, if I have a few more questions, comments, suggestions 😊 – how/where can I send them in? 😳 (English only? Or German, too?) – Really great app!! 👍👍

@rest_client Just stumbled upon your app and immediately bought the fair IAP. I’m migrating from @HTTPBot and was wondering how variables work in REST? Do I (have to) use them in request fields with double braces, like {{userAgent}}? A bit of a documentation would be nice … 😉

@metawops Yes exactly, they will be added if they aren’t there yet 👍

@rest_client Oh! Just saw this! 🤦‍♂️ 😂 But I can enter variable names without the {{}} here, right? They get added later just for clarification that they have to be *used* with {{}}, right?

@rest_client I use environments in Postman to switch between different test environments. Can I use similar functionality with Rest?

@sharklatan Thanks for letting us know, what is the error you're getting? Is this for a predefined request in the app or a new one? I will look into this but probably need some more info about the request, potential variables and the error.

@Seich Oh thanks for letting me know, I’ll look into this! Looks like a bug to me.

@Seich The variable field expects a key-value / dictionary string, you can use the Dictionary action to create one. It will use the keys/values to override variables defined in the app.

@moffpage1 Thank you for the feedback! I’m looking into improving the performance there. The current syntax highlighting solution doesn’t scale well unfortunately.

@rest_client The response body views drop frames to less than 24 it seems. Could you please fix that? I freaking love your app, but haven’t found any feedback form so writing mine here. There should be one asides writing an App Store Review in my opinion

@mikey186_ Yes OAuth 2 support is very high on the list of upcoming features. Shortcuts support is available starting with version 2.1.0.

@aw_edi Happy to hear that! Yes supporting folders / groups and associated settings is definitely planned 👍

@rest_client Thank you very much, that was fast. Problem with import has been solved. My issue now is, that the nesting is gone and I have a flat structure of 240 requests. Also it would be great if we import authorisation settings from folders. Not bugs but feature requests ;)

@aw_edi the beta build 2.1.1 (138) should be available now, looking forward to hear if this fixed the import issue.

@aw_edi Just adjusted the limit, should be possible to join it again! It will probably take a couple of days until the build has been approved by TestFlight though.

@rest_client the beta was full when i tried to join it last week.

@aw_edi nested structures seem to be the culprit. Are you in the TestFlight beta track already? If not I can invite you so you can test if that fixes it once the build is ready.

@rest_client Is there a limit in size? The collection contains 240 requests with multiple nesting levels.
