Austin must be the new LA because why are men just casually walking around like this??

@DrFJAD @dmunsonATL @Elex_Michaelson @flyLAXairport TPA handles fewer passengers than ATL, and also spreads those pax across security checkpoints. ATL is built as a connecting airport primarily, and so it only has two (large) consolidated checkpoints.
English

TSA wait times are VASTLY different depending on the airport.
At some places, like @flyLAXairport, it’s only a few minutes in recent days with the very same funding challenges as other cities.
Why are some airports handling it so much better? What can be learned from them?

@Radar27_98 @ATXJetsetter just have to take down the stinger jetways from the existing gates 32 and 34 and move them back to their original spots. the full expansion should be open by April 1 when the south terminal closes for good.
English

@ATXJetsetter Its only 33,35 and 37
34 and 36 are still under construction

New gates in Austin are looking good!
Alex Pankow@alex_pankow
Austin Airport West Gate Expansion is open.
English

@alex_pankow @elbirdman @griswold probably the case, since they're not a "signatory" airline. but they're going to use the common use gates on the east end, as well as some of the bus gates until the new Concourse M is built kinda where the old south terminal is. you'll also get there via bus from the terminal.
English

@richdevin @elbirdman @griswold I’ve heard that frontier and allegiant are cutting back flights as well since they have to pay higher rates in the main terminal.
English

@elbirdman @alex_pankow @griswold southwest will lose some gates during construction of the midfield concourse B, as that's where the tunnel will be built.
eventually southwest moves to the new concourse B and delta takes over their old gates in concourse A (the new name of the original terminal)
English

@alex_pankow @griswold I’m a Southwest guy so I’m usually mid terminal. What are the plans there?
English

@alex_pankow Can I fly international without touching Houston from this end?
English

@marshallgeyer my e-bike is so clutch during @sxsw. I ended up ubering a couple of days just because I didn't want to leave it locked up all day/evening, but if they could add a bike valet somewhere downtown—things would be perfect.
English

@elmachuca well, your first mistake here is assuming i’m unaware of my own lack of sanity.
but the last 5 years have been amazing and can’t really picture living anywhere else.

@randomperson_FA @BoricuaRob77 @fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta signatory airlines (AA, AS, DL, UA, WN) are in the assigned gate list and contribute fees differently than non-signatory airlines that use common-use gates. more here: austintexas.gov/news/austin-be…
English

@richdevin @BoricuaRob77 @fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta Or why not just make all gates common-use? This would be the most operationally efficient and versatile way to do it.
English

I've said this before and I'll say it again: once @AustinAirport constructs its new concourse, they should pursue a deal to become a @Delta hub.
They'll have enough gates at that point. And Delta is the only legacy carrier that has no hub in Texas. It makes perfect sense.
English

@HODLjesus the 4 years between buying a house and buying a vehicle means I’m probably not.
English

@BoricuaRob77 @fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta heard that too. i’d rather skyteam prioritize AUS-CDG, we need another euro link beyond 3x/week AMS. not sure what the big ICN draw is
English

@richdevin @fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta Makes sense I knew delta would have access to the common use international gates. Just read Korean and Delta met in Austin this past weekend. Could be a prelude to ICN. That would make 2 JV hub destinations.
English

@_derekmitchell_ @ahern_doug totally. and that’s why it took 3 years between buying a house and buying a new vehicle, after getting savings back to where we wanted it to be.
English

@richdevin @ahern_doug Like, my truck is what kept me from buying a house.
Getting rid of it helped me pay off some debt, put some away, and save $1000/mo on the car note, insurance, maintenance, fuel. Within a year I had what I needed for a down payment on a nice starter home close to work.
English

@BoricuaRob77 @fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta AA needs some gate slack even with the current operation. DL will also have access to the common use international swing gates on the east side
English

@fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta I would love nothing more than for delta to take over all of A gates. Don’t know why AA needs 9 gates in A concourse.
English

@santobrah @fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta the point about AA (and WN, to a lesser extent) is definitely DL’s strategy in AUS. UA isn’t much of a local origination carrier here.
English

@fawfulfan @AustinAirport @Delta Positive 2nd order affects for @Delta from a competitive standpoint in Austin: Cut into United & what's left of AA's premium passengers that would no longer need to connect. Gain all the customers loyal to SW due to their nonstops but are done with boarding/loyalty changes
English

@_derekmitchell_ @ahern_doug totally vibes, what’s wrong with that?
I mostly WFH and travel for work, and when I do need to go places around town my e-bike is the first option.
English

@ahern_doug @richdevin Tbf, a Bronco is probably less practical and is a very vibes based purchase lol
English

@sdeezyyyy it’ll be five years here this june, but i appreciate it. took some time to finally get the bronc
