It’s a shame bc there are new anime that I DO like, it was sad to see people move on so quickly from Dungeon Meshi, for example. But most Artist Alleys are just the same kawaii aesthetics and memes. It’s very boring, unfortunately

many people think ocs and characters are narratively the same and that is the problem with a lot of indie and adjacent spaces. artists just do not treat their ocs with the same care as a tactfully designed character with actual meaning and that's why your oc webcomic will fail

it does make me a little bit worried that younger artists are now focused on rendering and nothing else... particularly during the epidemic of the "jelly art style", lots of talent, but very little variation apart from pretty front facing headshots with flat lighting
