The world is complex and many spatio-temporal factors are at play. But if I had to try to pin point all of our current problems to one cause, I would say:
it is the underthinking crisis.
What can we, EU citizens, do to help fix the EU cookies law?
It is so bad, than even the gdpr.eu website (currently) mishandles it.
If we cannot get cookies right, I have no hopes AI will be well handled.

The solution is clear:
We need to completely repeal this law and replace it with something that actually works.
Better alternatives exist:
• Browser-level consent settings
• Risk-based approaches that exempt low-risk cookies
• Global standards alignment
It's like putting a child safety lock on one door while leaving all the windows wide open.
The most telling evidence this law has failed?
A 2023 Pew survey found 62% of EU users view cookie banners as "annoying" and "ineffective."
45% believe they don't boost privacy at all.
