Common sense says none of that would happen.
The should be NO translation service for anyone living in this country. If you live here and use the NHS...you are expected to speak English. This wouldn't include tourists as they would ultimately pay for treatment and translation if needed.
No one would expect the intelligence services or MOD to go without translation. But I would expect these people are security vetted and on staff... Not some pool translation service.

Can I ask why, if a pensioner has worked all their life, they only have the state pension to rely on? Didn’t decide to save ? Put away for a rainy day ? Sounds like poor planning to me. And yes if your children have flown the nest and you, or you and your spouse are knocking around in a 3 or 4 bedroom house you bought decades ago- SELL it. You’ll have more than enough to live on.
