I wonder if the NHL is aware that the playoffs start in just more than 48 hours. Very unfair to people who are traveling from out of town to see games, or for people who are trying to organize their lives around when puck drop is. Not fair to the teams either, for that matter.

This argument feels disingenuous. Yes, the format is broken and needs fixing. But completely ignoring the context of the meaningless last three losses for the Penguins - which wasn't the case for anyone else but CAR - and the fact that their AHL team was playing is unfair.

@reporterchris I agree the system is garbage but would note the Penguins had nothing to play for last three games and certainly played like it. Probably would have finished with 102 if they cared.

If we had a 1-8 format, which I think most NHL fans want back, we'd have: CAR vs. OTT BUF vs. PHI TBL vs. PIT MTL vs. BOS We're being robbed of the Montreal/Boston rivalry renewal because Gary thinks he knows better.
