Common theme from both Bloom and Marmol on Velázquez: constructing the roster this way allows them to make minimal 40-man moves. Both referenced being able to “keep all our guys” more than once. Hope is Velázquez pushes the issue.

The #STLCards are rebuilding so they need to be thinking big picture. Velazquez was at best a stop gap option in LF. Saggese may be apart of the long term picture so he wins the battle by default. Now carrying Fermin over Velazquez is a choice.

@Erik_Sean Totally agree. Very possible he flamed out and didn't produce. But he EARNED the right to make the roster.

What else did Velazquez need to do ? Why not start him in the bigs ? Many fans were actually a little excited to get a look.
