I spoke to Margaret last night. She said she would have answered The Call to be the new Education Secretary. She realises she wouldn't have met the criteria of the person spec though, what with liking children, loving teaching and knowing an awful lot about the education system.

@Misty_Fogg Have you heard of reciprocal reading? It’s a nice strategy you could use in a group reading task. SEND station do a really good (and cheap) couple of hours training with lots of practical ideas.

@Misty_Fogg In my experience reading self esteem plays a huge part in accepting they’re enjoying a book. We’ve gone back to basic phonics and filling in gaps with my college class and they’re zooming on

@Misty_Fogg If they have difficulty reading then lots of short sharp stories. Look for dyslexia friendly. Have they got a reading age? Maybe order some books from the library? Someone I went to school with writes books. Her name is E E Richardson & they’re scary ones for dyslexic teens

@Misty_Fogg What do they like? My class are all SEN and a group love manga and are eating them up. Another loves biff, chip and kipper, so we’re mingling that in. Another loves true war stories so the next class book will be anne franks diary. Do they struggle reading?

Hi all, Sadly, we have decided to merge some classes. Y10 Maths will join BTEC Trampolining, counting how many times they bounce. Y8 French will study WW2 with History, and Art and Geography will merge. Hopefully, the geographers will learn to colour inside the lines. Thanks x
