What a hike today! We found this amazing temple in a cave, OMG it was a HUGE cave with a sky light 😍 It took hours of walking and climbing but any worth it takes time! I hope you like my photos? How was your Sunday?

I’m starting a new article series where I’ll explain concepts from an engineering perspective, not just a development perspective. Instead of writing about tools, I’ll focus on the underlying concepts and how you can use them to build scalable systems from scratch. This is the first introductory article. I’d really appreciate it if you could read it and share your feedback. If you’re a beginner, this series will be especially helpful, as I’ll explain things the way I always wished someone had explained them to me. The only thing I ask from you is this: Read each article fully instead of just scanning through it so you don’t miss anything important.

Happy to share that screenshot-studio.com is part of the Vercel Open Source Program Winter 2026 cohort 🤝 When you’re building in public and solo, having infra you don’t have to think about is everything. Thanks @vercel back to shipping.

@devlemnsa Yeah true... even though it’s boring building a habit of writing tests helps us catch issues early 😄

Finished the Validation and ESLint chapter in Part 3 of #FullStackOpen I read a note saying that in Mongoose, validators are disabled by default for update operations So I decided to test it... #WebDev #LearningInPublic #MongoDB

Mongoose documentation also mentions that save() is generally the better choice for updating data because it runs full validation. Now I understand why we did not use findByIdAndUpdate() earlier for the update operation.

Turns out when using save(), Mongoose runs schema validation automatically, even during updates That’s why validation worked in my case The note applies when using methods like findByIdAndUpdate(). These methods do not run validation unless we enable it.
