There is no justification for the acts of violence and arson that we saw in Belfast last night. It is completely unacceptable. I urge for calm. We must let the police get on with their work.

However, advocating for targeted racial violence completely derails the push for actual legal reform. It shifts the public focus away from an unfair courtroom and onto street thuggery, destroying any leverage for systemic accountability. Stand with the fight for actual judicial accountability, but don't ride with rhetoric that only ends in more Black men dead or in prison.

Racism, intimidation and violence are wrong wherever they occur. There can be no excuse and no justification for these attacks tonight. No one wants to see this on our streets and I again appeal for calm.
