@semsarah You’re firing out hypotheticals, nobody is banning Facebook. Nobody is controlling me. There are enough legitimate arguments without resorting to that silliness. Believe it or not, some people can see two sides, weigh them up and make a decision. My decision = good riddance

@NicheSiteHombre So if they came and banned Facebook for any given reason (they sure show you a lot of very targeted ads about things you're talking about in person, eh?), how would you feel? You'd just bend over? Of course you wouldn't, you don't want to be controlled either.

@semsarah I’m not aware of any restrictions on what the UK consumes. I mean, we still have tik tok, for one thing.

@NicheSiteHombre I enjoy watching TikTok most and I do affiliate videos. I used to do the Creator Rewards program but don't bother anymore. I am an affiliate and will use all channels available to me. If you refer to my earlier posts to NSL I outline how this hurts small business w/ actual stats

@NicheSiteHombre @NicheSiteLady I am very diversified, thank you. And I see a lot of objections from non-creators. Everything our government does is for money. TikTok shop poses a threat to Amazon. Facebook can't recreate TT and wants to push Reels. Those companies lobbied hard for the ban.

@semsarah @NicheSiteLady You might not think the threat from China is credible but your government does. Meanwhile the only objections I can see are coming from creators who failed to diversify. I’m curious, why do YOU think they banned it?

@NicheSiteHombre @NicheSiteLady I believe all social media - including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are detrimental to kids under 17. This ban has absolutely nothing to do with protecting our children.

@NicheSiteHombre @NicheSiteLady Thank you for the 5 year old article that clearly states it's collecting data as much as Facebook and Google and the fear mongering the Trump admin was spreading to justify a ban in 2020 bc of the big, bad, evil China. 2020 TikTok and 2025 TikTok are completely different apps.

@NicheSiteLady And yes, I am a TikTok shop affiliate as I am for many platforms, and it has gotten me into the Amazon influencer program where I can share my videos directly on Amazon and even do live streams on Amazon. Imagine affiliate sales from Amazon where youdrive zero traffic. That's AIP

@NicheSiteLady The UK feed is undoubtedly a different feel but the US feed has been a wealth of information, not dancing. Video is the future and if you have been ignoring it you will be behind.

@NicheSiteLady Sure they can sell in multiple channels (and most do) but they lost one major source of sales for their brand. That can be crippling for small businesses just starting out, and some will have to shut down. This was always about money.

@NicheSiteLady There are 15 million merchants on TikTok shop with half a million being US merchants. In 2024 the US accounted for $15billion in revenue for these merchants. The app is way more than skits and dancing. For a lot of small companies, it's a marketplace.

@lilyraynyc Fingers crossed it doesn't come back under Elon or Meta and remains TikTok. Both would ruin it.

So we are all betting on TikTok coming back under Trump, and/or merging with Meta, right?
