@Igor2071030 Hi Igor, although we understand those models for other apps, it has always been important that Session offered basic privacy and security to users for free. Optional Session Pro features have been in development for some time, but not launched yet.

@session_app @session_app You should have done it maybe, like Threema or Twinme+ messenger, it's a one time payment, Threema is 6.99 euros I think, and Twinme+ is 4.11 euros.

A lot of these improvements are planned to be part of the Session Pro model. This is the long term strategy for sustainability of the Session ecosystem (inclusive of funding development and maintenance, supporting operators of the network, etc.) Significant progress has been made towards Pro's beta release, but the foundation does not currently have the funding to carry it through.

Make the app easier to use, and it will naturally become more popular, attracting a larger user base. Once more people are using it, the team can simply charge for premium/special features—just like Telegram's current business model—which will provide the funding needed to build and maintain whatever you want to achieve. I'm currently using Session and have noticed some major weaknesses the app is facing: 1. File size limit when sending: Allow sending files with unlimited size instead of imposing the current restrictions. 2. Automatic data deletion after a set period: The auto-deletion of messages/data after a fixed time programmed by the team creates concerns for long-term users who want to keep their data indefinitely rather than having it wiped automatically. The better solution is to give users the choice: permanent retention or auto-deletion after a user-defined period, instead of Session deciding for them. 3. Group member limit: Completely remove the cap on the number of members in a group, allowing unlimited participants so groups can grow freely. 4. No edit option for sent messages: Users should be allowed to edit messages they've already sent, so they can fix mistakes, add missing information, or correct errors afterward for a smoother and more professional experience. In summary: If your team genuinely listens to user feedback and quickly fixes these issues, the app will naturally attract way more users. At that point, monetizing premium features will generate steady revenue to sustain and grow the project. Why doesn't the team take advantage of constructive community suggestions to make Session a truly perfect app?

@GucciGa68437081 In the past, development was mostly funded via the token. That is still the long-term plan for sustainability, but more work is required to reach that point. Session is a community-run platform, which is why we are turning to the community now.

@session_app It’s your fault: you’re offering a free app and you want me to believe you haven’t made a penny for eight years. Well, how on earth do you manage to pay all the people working on this version?

@zquestz There won't be any further development without additional funding, unfortunately. Of course it's entirely open source, the network itself is decentralized (and theoretically be redeployed by others), so it can live on in that sense.

@cydereyes Working towards Session Pro is the goal for long-term sustainability of Session. It is significantly progressed, but the foundation doesn't currently have funding to complete the launch.
