THIS IS IT! This is where I draw the curtains and call it a day! What a journey! What a ride this has been. After eleven years of active duty to this great nation, I say with a sense of pride that I gave it my all. The army found me worthy enough and gave me a sense of purpose, a life defined by discipline and strict routines, friendships that will last a lifetime, adventures and memories money simply cannot buy. I’ve seen it all—from serving in the vibrant streets of Lagos to the soul-snatching landscapes of the Northeast. I’ve had my fill—from making the best of friends to seeing the death of the best of men. Now it’s time to take my feet of these pedals and chart a new course with the guidance of the utmost discipline, sense of security and leadership that the army has given me. Let it be known that I was never disgruntled, my helmet was never too heavy for my head, my boots were never too muddy for my feet, nor did I at any point lack trust in the leadership of the Nigerian army and the armed forces at large. I served this country with everything and some extra. To the men who continue to put their lives at stake for the sake of this great nation, I wish you all well and God’s guidance. To the men who we started this journey together but are no longer here, may your efforts and labor not go in vain! This is it….this is where this gun-slinging road comes to an end.
