@AvonandsomerRob Here's the thing. My daughter (11) is a right live wire,& will create havoc at any opportunity ( in a reasonable way), but I take her to Costa and we sit,I have a double espresso & she has a 'babyccino' & whatever pastry she wants & it's the most peaceful ¾ hour of the week

When I pay £5 to sit in Costa for a bit if peace for half an hour with a coffee, I don't expect the place to be used as a creche by screaming kids. Should there be a minimum age for kids to be allowed into coffee chains? I'd suggest 5, and that's being generous..

@miradasurfs That's a weird,huh? Rickenbacker had 'distribution' network in Europe,Fender didn't. Prob'ly Leo didn't grease the right palms,or didn't need to as he was making good $$ in US with his new fangled teles & strats. Dunno why Beatles did use Fender when touring the US either.

Ok cool. I know Hank Marvin had the first Strat but I have seen references to this situation. It did paid off for fender obviously. The guitar embargo era though did cause the Beatles to use unique instruments that added to their cool sound like the Rickenbackers. So there’s that… I guess I can ask you- how was Rickenbacker able to import to the UK?

Eventually I'll probably apply for citizenship in Italy. In 5 years I'll be eligible. Then I'll have an Italian passport but I'll never be truly Italian. I will, in reality, be an English person who lives in Italy as a guest of the Italians. Of course there are very many Italians in England — London has around 375,000 Italians—so the deal is reciprocal. I eat a lot of pasta and pizza, I speak Italian with Italians nearly every day, I pay Italian taxes, and I respect and admire Italian culture. But the fact remains that I'm English. However, it's easy for me to say this because I have the unearned privilege of English ethnicity. Whereas, if someone from an inferior backward culture goes to live in England, they become English immediately. To say anything else would be deeply insulting. Actually if a person who lives in a third-world shithole so much as thinks about England, they are practically already English.
