i’ve written whole essays about how queer people and women specifically use fanfiction as a tool for exploring their identity, gender, sexual desires etc. that’s always been part of why fanfic exists and people with no idea about fandom history are now trying to police what people can write. it’s infuriating. one of the things that I dislike about current fandomspace is that fans almost never allow other fans to be Wrong. Yes, perhaps that fan theory sounds whack but it's fun so who cares. Yes, that's not a canon interpretation of a relationship but why not speculate? (1/?)
