I’ll dumb it down. 30-40% posession and counter attacks won’t win PL and CL trophy’s. It’ll win some games, it’ll compete for top 4, it’ll suit these players, but it won’t win titles. It’s easier to win games doing that than it is to go through the pain of trying to change it.

Amorim was trying to coach us to play a different style for the long term. Carrick is not doing anything for the long term, he’s doing what he knows these players are comfortable with for the best possible short term results. It takes barely above room temperature IQ to grasp.

@tonytom1earth Yes, Carrick played risky passes punched through the lines, left foot / right foot and read the game brilliantly. Safe and control don’t have to be the same. Kobbie is a good player, on Sat he and others slowed the game down. You love Pep’s sideways football, I like energy.
