"They sought to save money by preventing illness." The horror.
When the DDR was annexed by West Germany, the free preventative healthcare system was dismantled — including the polyclinics where several medical specialities collaborated to provide a wide variety of health services under one roof.
Medicine reverted to the archaic model of individually-owned family clinics, which are beset by high bureaucratic overheads and a highly-competitive environment requiring a constant source of profits. I read about a doctor from the former DDR who received capitalist re-education in the West, teaching him how to ensure that patients would come back for "repeat treatment", thereby ensuring his practice's financial sustainability.

My favourite bit of the DDR museum protesting waaaaaaay too much
English

@ThiccSpectre eh - no, you did not do that, no need to -publicly- lie about this 😅
English

@sovietstern I merely insinuated that you read (possibly a lot) of false, Stalinist ”theory”
English

I am most definitely a trot.
I am very happy that our political enemies feel they have to slander Trotskyism more and more
You have no leg to stand on, the ideas are correct, but haven’t really read them have you
sovietstern@sovietstern
"I am not even a trot" confessions don't make your Trotskyism any more correct, comrade.

I'll never forget how the Israelis bombed al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza in October 2023 and the world was shocked and horrified. Israel denied it, saying they would never commit such a heinous crime.
Then they went on to bomb every single hospital in Gaza.
Now they are doing the same in Lebanon and Iran. The Israelis have bombed at least 128 medical facilities and ambulances across south Lebanon. In Iran, the US and Israel have bombed 25 hospitals and medical centres.
In Lebanon, they are committing double tap strikes to kill medics and rescue workers, just as they did in Gaza. Medics are forced to delay their responses.
These monsters are normalizing war crimes that were once unthinkable.

@captive_0 @sovietstern They think that one can both be internationalist and believe in “socialism in one country” 😂
English

@captive_0 yeah all those stupid others who fail to consider preaching eternal correctness, i hear you but don't forget bedtime over this
English

@sovietstern sure, because Trotskyism is already correct and doesn't need to be more correct
English

@birrion got yourself some holy apple tree of natural insight magic i see
English

@sovietstern Trotskyism is by nature correct, so it can't be more correct or less correct. It remains true, no matter how much Stalinists lie about it.

»For two decades, it remained an open, unexamined, unspoken secret in Lithuania that Soviet forces likely weren’t culpable for the January 13th 1991 massacre.«
Interesting article about the January events in 1991 Lithuania, including but not limited to issues of CIA involvement.

This is Americanist drivel.
Israel has not "hijacked" American imperialism, and portraying the relationship that way is nothing but an obfuscation that serves imperial interests.

@Tall_Thomas_ i shall "stfu" at this point - right after a "thanks for the conversation, comrade" 😊
English

@sovietstern Oh thats so cute pookie. You didnt mention the fuckn 2 ton elephant in the room. Stfu
English

@Tall_Thomas_ and here i did not even mention your Stalin albatross at all 😅
English

@sovietstern Nothings worse than a hundred year grudge. Stalin ran the USSR into the ground and had to be disavowed by everyone who came after him. I mean stop clinging to him as some communist life raft when hes an albatross around your neck.
English

@TherynDArnold not that you'd exactly need Trotsky for that -
on the other hand not to deny that all sorts of social democrats contributed to materialist analyses of sorts back in the days 😊

@GgeSeth66026 I did not change the subject when i tried to indicate that a line like "The ComIntern was relatively(?) healthy until(?) the point(?) Stalin did this and that" does not contribute to understanding ComIntern history.
Also "degeneration" is not the only issue of any Internationals
English

@sovietstern Don’t go changing the subject now, comrade. The question was on the 3rd in particular. All of the Internationals so far had their own sources of degeneration.
English

@GgeSeth66026 Does the sun really rise in the east? Or is Stalin responsible for its rises - and dawns? Or shall we just believe in coincidences? 🤔
Here I must remind you that the *3rd* International was not the first International to be eventually even dissolved entirely - and for reasons.

English

@sovietstern Except for the part where the ComIntern was relatively healthy up until the point Stalin took up the mantle of leadership 🤔
How interesting. How do you explain that?
