1/5 I've been asked to comment on my experience of attempting to create a new programming language #EK9 So here goes. First off it's not because I dislike other languages, I love them for what they offer. But wanted a sort of hybrid of several languages.

@YvetteCooperMP If the current standard of policing is anything to go by, that probably a good thing. There is clear bias and a clear lack of resolve to do the right thing.

Under the Tories, 10,000 neighbourhood police have been cut from our streets. But Tory Ministers just don’t get why that matters. Here’s my reply to the Policing Minister’s ludicrous attempt to claim response teams are same as having neighbourhood police on the beat 👇

It seems so rude to cancel a meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece when he has already flown to London. The Greeks are our friends and allies and we should show them more respect. Surely we can handle a disagreement over a museum exhibit.

Looking at tweets, you don’t need anything to be a developer. You don’t even need job to be a developer. So, what makes developer, developer?

@RickHunter7 Ah back to the sort of topics that really matter. You’ve not factored in the ‘desperation factor’, nor the proximity to other ‘people’ (dare not say men anymore). Also the number of urinals available? So for me it varies significantly. Oh and space between urinals.

Ok... important scientific pre-monday question. When it's socially acceptable to start unzipping your pants when going to a public bathroom: - A couple of steps before the toilet door - Once inside the bathroom anything goes - Not until you arrive at the toilet/urinal

Referendums we could and should have had instead of leaving EU 1. Abolishing 1st past post system 2. Make offshore tax havens illegal 3. Should we tax land ownership annually on value as we do houses/flats 4. Abolish 2nd jobs for MPs 5. Should we renationalise utilities and public transport 6. Should we abolish public_private schools. Any other referendums that would have helped improve our country for us Citizens

People don't start off rioting. The poll tax riots were a prime example. People wanted change, the government didn't listen. They tried and tried, but still they didn't listen. They gathered for a protest, which ended up in a riot The government listened. The Irish living in the areas flooded with male migrants have been begging for change ever since their young girls were being harassed, masturbating Iun the streets, and other atrocious behaviour as they fill in their idle hours from the hotels they stay in. The government, pushing the open borders agenda of the EU didn't listen. Then an Algerian, with no respect for our freedoms decides to slash little kids. The people kicked off and destroyed property it was a riot. What the people can't handle is the cushioning by the media and political elite of the dangerous individuals they've allowed in. His identity kept secret for as long as they could He should have been named and shamed immediately. That would have calmed down he situation down The utter stupidity and neglect of Varadka towards his own people is a dangerous stance. It inflames the anger. 100% more airtime spent condemning the rioters than what was spent condemning the slasher of kids. We are now expected to tolerate even more as the binary thinking of politicians is to increase the population, so let anyone in. .A better way would be to incentify having a family so people can afford t have kids . We are victims of a political class of career politicians who see a country as a stepping stone to becoming a global name. They want fame and fortune . Looking after their own country simply doesn't do it for them. They sicken me. Power is in the wrong hands.

@wtravishubbard Stress, some people find it more/too stressful. Or maybe they like working with their colleagues. I’ve done a mix of both and contracting. Latter seems to suit me more TBH. Though I am working on ek9.io which should keep me going for 10-20 years.

FACT: Some males can become females. And when they do, they are scientifically female. That’s a fact! You can debate it all you want but you are wrong if you disagree. FACT: All clownfish (three banded anemone fish) start off as male, but can switch to female when circumstances allow, for example, when the only female present dies or disappears.

Wissam is six, the same age I was when Britain gave me sanctuary. He has already lost his sister to the same condition he suffers from. He is living rough in #Calais, among the rubbish. There are no legal routes for him to seek sanctuary in the UK. mirror.co.uk/news/world-new…

@guyverhofstadt And have your digital Euro so you can all line your pockets with confiscated cash - I think not. We’ll eventually find some politicians in the UK that actually do what they are ‘elected’ to do. Cameron is not elected - in 6 months he won’t be in post. He will still be a lord! WTF

"You need to know who's been vaccinated." Speaking at the WEF in January 2023, former UK PM and touted successor to Klaus Schwab, Tony Blair, asserts the necessity of a "digital infrastructure" for monitoring everybody's vaccination status in the event of a future "pandemic". "Some of the vaccines that will come on down the line will be multiple, there'll be multiple shots. So you've got to have―for reasons to do with the healthcare more generally, but certainly for a pandemic―you've got to have a proper digital infrastructure." @GoodwinMJ I’m not sure it does work for the new elite in the longer term either. It breaks down society and the rule of law. It closes businesses and in the end destroys not just lives but tax/profit. The last two they do care about. The tax/profit but - not the lives.

"Mass immigration works for the new elite but hurts everybody else. It undermines wages & financial security for the working class. It undermines social trust. It undermines support for welfare. It undermines democratic legitimacy. It drives up housing costs, rent & fills social housing. It fuels populism and polarisation. And it leaves many people feeling as though their identity, culture & way of life are being undermined, too". mattgoodwin.org/p/britains-imm…

The Tories have a new record to add to the list (and they are all bad). For the first time ever, British households will be worse off at the end of this term of government than they were at the start. By nearly £2k per year each. Let that sink in. This is the cost of their ‘game of thrones’ approach to running our country.

@drgurner @Lauramaywendel Agree, most people in organisations only see linear time, linear hours. Design for me is non-linear. Tinker, probe, read, walk, swim - drink coffe, sleep. Then after a day it sort of just comes together. Then it becomes more linear in terms of development.

@Lauramaywendel This is such a good point...and to me it isn't about orgs that can attract them - but orgs that will be able to understand their working style to get the best from them. All orgs think they want them, but few can really navigate them when they don't work like everyone else.

A lot of very smart people work in strange ways / with a lot of quirks (e.g. contemplating for hours and appearing to do nothing, while then suddenly having 100x output burst). This usually makes them not a great fit for traditional corporate world, where you often have to fake being busy & work around fixed structures. The great thing about small teams working in a flexible structure with high autonomy is that you get to witness these quirks manifest into greatness, time and time again. Many genuinely productive people are misunderstood because their perceived methods many not ‘look’ like hard work from the outside. Organizations that are able to attract these people at scale & are able to create a culture in which they can flourish, have immense potential for innovation / technological breakthroughs (think OpenAI, SpaceX, ...)
