@jdflynn Something more realistic for 20 hrs would be run lifeteen and edge, one retreat, maybe a local service project or two, then cultivate volunteers/meet with pastor and staff and vision for growth. And the job would have to grow its compensation and hrs as new initiatives are added.

@jdflynn It sounds like the parish has big dreams for youth but doesn't have the resources to support the kind of person who can do it all. Something needs to adjust, either the compensation or the scope of that job. The description reads like a wish list and isnt realistic.

Sweet Caroline is an American standard. Its primary cultural significance is neither the Boston Red Sox nor baseball more generally. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

@ethawyn @lukei4655 Yeah but it would take a good ten years to actually implement well, and some priests know they can do whatever they want because they're needed too badly, under the current model. Idk just seems impossible to actually do well.

@lukei4655 This becomes obvious when you think about the fact that pastors are meant to be fathers to their flock, not branch managers.

If I were a Bishop one of the first things I’d do is remove term limits for pastors. Both the priest and the people have a right and institutional need for stability. If you need to remove a guy, start a canonical process. If you don’t trust a guy, don’t make him a pastor.

8 ribbons. Yes, really. We planned for 5, but the feedback was loud and clear, so we're making it happen for our edition of The Liturgy of the Hours. We think you'll feel the difference every time you sit down to pray!
Donald Jacob Uitvlugt@HaikuFictionDJU

Just received an email from @AscensionPress which is big news for those who pray the Liturgy of the Hours. Their new edition of LotH plans to including **eight** ribbon markers. Should using the books in prayer so much easier…

okay gang: at what point can an employer no longer mandate an unpaid break? We've had mandatory meal periods for shifts over 5 hours for a while, but it sounds like management wants to make them mandatory for 5 hour shifts and I'm skeptical that this is acceptable.

@RichardJKimblee @lukei4655 Most retired priests do that! They help out a ton by me with Masses and Confessions, until they have to undergo the second retirement where they are physically unable to keep up.

@lukei4655 What I dont understand, is the concept of a retired priest, if the Pope is expected to do it for life, why cant a preist, even if its just sitting in the confessional and making oneself available to confessions a good part of the day.

St Margaret Clitherow. One of Catholicism’s strongest women, in will and in endurance. A little known part of her story is that her husband supported her in hiding priests even though he was Protestant. He paid her fines and raised their children while she was in prison.

@stinekey Now I want to know if the regular priests had a heads up that this was coming or are they scrambling to get people on board for schism

The local sspx chapel has been doing a series of talks about authority and schism and it's all really sad how much cope there is. It's all wrong.

What is an ordination Mass like? Youngest asked if we could go to one in a few weeks, and I'm trying to figure out what we'd be signing up for.

@ethawyn Like we might someday get to the point where we alchemize lead into gold but only God can mess with subatomic particles to create something new just by willing it to be so. (Or create new matter from no matter). We would always need tools to do it.

@ethawyn Some say the difference between tech and magic is semantics, but the difference between a true miracle and technology is truly breaking the laws of nature, vs with them. Like how its important the miracle of the loaves and fishes breaks the law of conservation of mass.

I've been following with interest the discussions following the debate on Fatima with @emuse1955 (as I have family who are persuaded Guadalupe is demonic). The videos by @sincead33 and @WalmartThomist were excellent.
