@BuzzingPop 2/2 There aren't many vocal allies in the NHL and there are most definitely closeted players. Possibly even on the US team. It is one thing for allies to abstain when the marginalized call for such action & another for allies to stand by all their teammates in unsafe environments

@BuzzingPop 1/2 Let me add that the 5 players who didn't attend the WH dinner all put out statements saying the timing didn't work out for them- most of them expressing gratitude for the invitation. I think abstaining could have been a powerful message.
