@imthezro @risversed Yes but that's because a subject which has a distinct smell is stated. You couldn't say "It wafts." in the way you could say "It stinks." without an attachment of what 'wafts' (through an area) i.e; "The smell of waffles wafts through the house." An object needs to be stated.

@risversed Waft is rather close. It describes a gentle scent specifically (could also be any kind of air movement) so it's hardly ever used for anything other than pleasant smells when used as an adjective for scent.
