@CronoZer0 @Telnyash @hwsestonia first of all, cuisine of people in Caucasus is a very broad term that encompasses different ethnicities, so it’s not a national cuisine. second of all, marinated grilled meat is not a concept that is unique to Caucasus, and there are a lot of dishes similar to it

@Telnyash @hwsestonia but that works for every country in the world. their cuisine is theirs purely because of the fact that they believe it. Ukrainian, Russian or Belarusian national identities didn’t exist in the same way they do now, while people at that time already ate these foods

@Telnyash @hwsestonia well, that comes down to the cultural associations Russian people have with this food. the thing is, “Russian food” should not imply that it exists only in Russia and/or originated there. something can belong to a certain place, but not imply exclusive ownership

@Telnyash @hwsestonia what I mean is that the idea of a national cuisine is overly simplified and should not imply exclusivity. I can’t think of any national cuisine in the world whose foods are truly unique. so, calling something a Russian dish should not imply that the dish is exclusive to Russia
