Pedantry alert. Is 'transportation' a word? Context is the reasonable performance of 'transport' as a noun that refers to cars and trains and the like.

So in Germany freelancers registered on Friday and today received a flat rate grant of 5000 euro. They are good like that in Europe

@GC26sag @helenczerski Why is focusing on deaths the answer to that problem. Find any area where there is temporal consistency and report the percentage change. Any single measure - whether deaths or cases, confirmed or otherwise - is a more imperfect picture of the situation than a percentage change

@tceb @helenczerski I’m aware of that. It’s not consistent though. Daily tests conducted in U.K. varied from about 2000-8000. It has been rising recently... so if you test more of course you’ll find more infected cases. Doesn’t necessarily mean the rate is going up.

Numbers of cases & deaths are horrifying, but even credible news outlets don't seem to be giving the most important number: percentage increase on yesterday. Today it's 30%-ish & THAT'S the number that matters - the measure of how the disease is spreading. PLEASE can we fix this?

@GC26sag @helenczerski Think Helen’s point is that however flawed your measuring, if the measuring is at least consistent, percentage increase is the only way to get a clear sense of the daily change that can be compared against other countries to see how well UK measures are working
