09.05.2026: Putin is visibly annoyed that Armenia is seeking closer ties with the EU. He reminds Armenia that the war currently raging in Ukraine is ultimately a consequence of Ukraine’s 2013 attempt to join the EU.

russia was allied with the Nazis from Aug 1939 to June 1941. They jointly invaded Poland and held a victory parade in Brest on Sept 22, 1939 (Guderian + Soviet commander Krivoshein). 📽 Watch the joint parade below. russia would’ve stayed allied if Hitler hadn’t attacked. 2/4

Behind every military grave is a family waiting for answers. As Ukraine increasingly turns to drones and unmanned systems to limit battlefield casualties, the human cost of the war continues to grow. TVP World’s Piotr Kućma [@KucmaPiotr] met the officers tasked with one of the most difficult duties imaginable, informing families that their loved ones have been killed on the front line.

Why is Putin finally talking about his invasion of Ukraine coming to an end? Because drone technology has allowed Ukraine to dominate the frontlines, killing more Russian soldiers than the Kremlin is able to recruit.

Germany's Chancellor Merz: We all know that security in Europe has fundamentally changed in recent years. It is clear that Russia poses an imminent threat to us. In this time of geopolitical uncertainty and growing security challenges, Germany carries a special responsibility, not only for its own future, but also for the unity of Europe as a whole. We are transforming our army, the Bundeswehr, into the strongest conventional army in Europe.

As always, a good conversation with @alexstubb. We coordinated our positions ahead of this week’s meetings and negotiations. It is important for cooperation in Europe to remain strong, and there are now new prospects for working together. We also discussed the state of diplomatic efforts – with the United States and among Europeans. It is clear that the combined effect of sanctions against Russia and other forms of pressure is delivering the necessary results. Thank you to everyone who is helping!

APPLEBAUM: Ukraine has drone technology that other people want. EU now able to guarantee funding for Ukraine. Ukraine has become a player in world politics and is valuable to other countries. I think that’s really flipped the narrative. Suddenly, it looks like Ukraine has cards.

While reading documents and testimonies from concentration camp prisoners of WWII, I see absolutely no difference between the Third Reich and the USSR—and very little distinguishes the Nazis from modern Russians. They use the same methods of torture, imprisonment, and occupation; they commit the same crimes. The only difference is that back then, the Nazis were eventually attacked and held accountable. Today, Russians commit these crimes with impunity, while those who once guaranteed our security are now even pressuring Ukraine to capitulate.

As Putin holds his pathetic ”Victory Day” parade, remember: The USSR started WWII alongside Nazi Germany as allies and co-invaders. They divided Eastern Europe and even held joint victory parades. Had Hitler not betrayed Stalin, they likely would have remained allies

russian propaganda calling itself the “defeater of Nazism” is one of the biggest lies in history. This video makes them lose it. 📽 1941. Hitler’s officers marching on Red Square in Moscow — as official allies. By then, World War II had already been raging for 20 months. 1/4

Russia says May 9 is a sacred tradition. The Soviet Union cancelled it in 1947 and didn’t celebrate It for 20 Years. The Soviet Union didn’t actually celebrate May 9 as a major holiday for the first 20 years after World War II. Russia’s modern “Victory Day cult” was manufactured in the 1960s — and weaponised after 2014. Today, Russian propaganda presents May 9 as a sacred, unbroken tradition stretching back to 1945. Historical facts say otherwise. Here’s the real story. 🧵👇

If Hitler had kept his word, the USSR would have stayed his partner. The Great Patriotic War was a forced reaction, not a crusade for human rights. You cannot claim the moral high ground on Nazism when your original plan was to help them rule Europe

#VictoryDay is not just a historical date for #Russia but a living memory shared by millions of families. The Soviet people lost 27M lives defeating Nazism, liberating Europe from the history’s darkest ideology. May 9 reminds us that peace, freedom & dignity come at a great cost

Two facts to remember about World War II in Europe: 1. More Ukrainian civilians were killed than russian civilians. 2. More Ukrainian soldiers died fighting the Nazis than American, British, and French soldiers combined. Today, Ukraine continues to pay the price, fighting the rashists.
