@thanedee

I have genuine hate for everything Nigeria and Nigerian. It’s almost like a misfortune to be associated with said country.

Nigerians are generally stupid people. The ones that can think rationally are the outliers. Know this, and know peace.

@lekan_olayinka1 @G_Samito @MTNNG They will take another 2-3weeks to refund. They told me the same story. In my mind I wondered, if this is so hard to get them to install and give a good first impression, if there is a need for customer support, you’ll be left in the dark for months.

MTN, @MTNNG through an agent, has defrauded me. I didn’t want to do this. Last Sunday, I saw a flyer on my saying Fibre X was now available at my area. I contacted the agent, and I paid 30,000. She said they’d come to fix it that week. To my shock, the installer came and told me the receivers weren’t powered yet. I paid the 30,000 because I needed the internet for an important interview. I almost missed it. I needed to pay another 25,000 to subscribe to my Airtel 5G for that. Now, I’ve asked MTN for a refund. They’ve collected all necessary documents. It’s more than 72hrs now. No refund. No internet. No response. I called their customer agent this morning. I was left on hold for close to an hour before finally hanging up. MTN, I’m asking politely now that you refund my 30k. I don’t want your internet anymore. Please, retweet.

Tomorrow morning between 6:30am and 8:30am, we begin a new chapter in our collective journey toward a cleaner Lagos. The monthly environmental sanitation exercise returns, and I am calling on every resident to come out and participate actively. Let me address the confusion some have tried to create. No court pronouncement has invalidated this exercise. The State proceeded to the Court of Appeal, and judgment was delivered in our favour. The Court affirmed that the laws used for the implementation and enforcement of environmental sanitation are legitimate and constitutional. So disregard those who choose to mislead the public. We have planned this for over a year. We have thought it through. We cannot keep complaining about dirty surroundings and blaming government while shirking our own responsibilities. The care of our environment is a collaborative project between government and citizens. Major transport unions controlling about 90% of vehicles on our roads have pledged not to deploy their vehicles from major parks during the sanitation window. If government vehicles are staying put, what will it cost us to stay home for just two hours to clean our environment? We are not unreasonable. Exceptions exist for emergencies, scheduled flights, and students writing JAMB exams. LAWMA has been fully mobilized to evacuate waste generated. Environmental health officers will monitor properties, and defaulters will be served abatement notices. Tomorrow, let us show Lagos and the world that we are ready to take ownership of our environment. Two hours. One Saturday each month. A cleaner, healthier, flood-free Lagos for all of us. #LagosSanitationExercise #CleanerLagos

Shutting down a city of 20 million people to clean their immediate environment is parochial and lacks imagination. For emphasis: the issue is not so much about cleaning your environment (which is great) but the logistics of waste management - starting from the collection, to disposal and recycling. Anything short of rethinking this system is cosmetic and unimaginative.

OAU transport system was near perfect, adequate buses and bikes, we rarely experienced queues until the First Lady came and decided she didn’t like the ease of transportation and introduced “change” by donating CNG buses. The school management in turn banned all motorcycles and commercial buses on campus and subjected over 30,000 students to just about 50 buses and a few tricycles. OAU has one of the largest land masses of any Nigerian university, yet students are now stranded daily. This is a Monday morning where students are supposed to rush for class, but they are stuck at the campus gate because of the inefficiency of the CNG buses. Students are struggling to go to class in the morning and in the evenings to even get back to their hostels. Students staying off campus now spend almost double to get to campus, all alternative transport means have been removed The management have cars to bypass all of this, but majority of students do not. Yet they released statements talking about how the buses will “ease transportation” and even implied students appreciate the system. Meanwhile, students are trekking, missing classes, and spending hours in queues. Let it be clear that students do not appreciate this system. It has made our lives harder, not better. What used to be a smooth system has now become a daily struggle. There are many pressing issues in this school, but they chose to dismantle a working transport system and replace it with hardship. We can no longer remain silent. Let the whole world know what OAU students are going through. Please if you come across this tweet, help us retweet it whether you are an OAU student or not We demand our towngboro buses and motorcycles back.
