There are no isolated incidents. Technology and inequality — climate, social and otherwise — have always been intertwined, and true innovation will be needed to solve these crises together. This is the concept at the core of #theintersection.

If we are to survive, change is required. #theintersection imagines one possible future in which technology is repurposed to strengthen our ties and build rather than divide. #Solarpunk is another.

The news told Tammi’s family the storm wasn’t real. They believed it right up until catastrophe washed away their lives. Now a refugee in her own country, Tammi works toward a world where technology can’t corrupt and destroy. In order to do that, she must find #theintersection.

When Jake’s journalistic ambitions stoke the flames of division and conflict, he abandons his dream and searches for a way to bring people together with technology, rather than drive them apart. That decision brings him to #theintersection, where his life’s work truly begins.

#theintersection is just one of many visions for a better future that emphasizes human connection as a way to achieve true equality. We are not alone in this fight.

The results bring him success and comfort in his own bubble, securing his future in a capitalist society. But when his fiction bleeds into reality, he is left with an impossible reckoning with his own abdicated responsibility … and a choice that will define his life.

In #theintersection, Jake’s dream of being a journalist leads him down a dark path when he uses technology to create multiple versions of the same story in an attempt to cater to everyone’s idea of the truth.
