Ridiculous American tipping culture almost killed my son today
He got sick yesterday so I rushed to a pharmacy in Boston
Luckily his medicine was available, I was relieved
“Can I pay cash? I forgot my card” I said to the pharmacist
“Sure. That will be $50 plus tip”
I froze. Tipping in a pharmacy is not common in Europe
“I'm sorry, I only have exact $50, I didn't know about the tip” I said
“You didn't know? This is America. The staff rely on tips. If you cannot afford it, then don't come here”
I was shocked. My son was sick and she was refusing to sell me basic medicine
I had to beg and give her my necklace with an EU flag as tip, so she would finally let me buy it
I will never visit this barbaric country ever again
My dad paid $340 a year in property taxes in 1985
same house today: $35,800 a year
that's $2,983 a month just to stay in a house you already own
you never actually own anything
You just rent it from the government forever
In some parts of America now it's 92 degrees.
Water BOILS at 100 degrees.
Anyone who's still a climate change denier at this point is simply delusional.
New York City Mayor Mamdani just gave one of the most amazing speeches you will ever hear:
"We are told that America is exceptional because we are richer, stronger, and more powerful than everyone else.
"The truth, my friends, is that America is exceptional because here, nothing is fixed into place. The frontier may be closed. We may have walked on the moon. But the work of fulfilling the values first enshrined in the Declaration of Independence — that work endures, and it belongs to us all.
"It belongs, too, to our newest Americans: those standing here with me today, all of whom were recently naturalized. Nearly a decade ago, I, too, felt what you feel: the joy of no longer being just a New Yorker, but an American, too.
"You each hold a special power: the power to determine what America means.
"The powerful have always known their answer. America, in their view, is an arena of supremacy where only a select few are allowed freedom; where not all are created equal. America, if you ask them, becomes less the more people it welcomes. America, they will tell you, belongs only to those with the right accent or the right shade of skin. The rest of us, they insist, should be grateful for merely being allowed to visit.
"How small they are. How weak. How unoriginal.
"At every moment in our past, those who led through exclusion and isolation have tried to win power and enrich themselves by turning us against one another. Division is the oldest trick in politics — and the cheapest.
"But time and again, including 250 years ago, those forces of division have been vanquished by the forces of progress."
Communist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who just came to this country, chose to become an American, is deciding he is the foremost authority to tell Americans what it means to be American.
He has the AUDACITY, on America's 250th birthday, to call our great nation "an arena of supremacy" — a nation that "persecutes," ruled by "oligarchs."
He sneers that his fellow Americans are "small, weak, unoriginal."
He says “ICE is invading our streets” while he endorses and welcomes an invasion of third-world savages.
Millions dream of the gift he was given.
A man who spends his time burning the most American city to the ground does not deserve to be America, let alone dictate to others what it means to be an America.
@krassenstein You ignorant fucking pussy. If it ever happens you would run to your basement crying and post shit on the Internet. That's all you would do because you're a little bitch just like your brother.
@krassenstein Why are leftists so quick to resort to terrorism? It's like they are incapable of doing anything else when faced with something they don't want.
@famexbt Agreed prices are too man high, BUT, that doesn’t mean employers should just pay you more for the job anyone can do. You know what we did as a generation before you? We worked harder, got second and third jobs until we made it. You don’t get to pick a first job and that’s it.
People love saying, “Just get a job.”
Okay.
You land a full-time position paying $20 an hour.
That’s about $3,450 a month after a typical work schedule, and roughly $2,950 in your pocket after taxes.
A modest one-bedroom apartment costs around $1,900.
Now add utilities, groceries, transportation, insurance, your phone bill, and any unexpected expense.
Suddenly, you’re not building a future you’re trying to make it to the next payday.
When basic living expenses consume almost everything you earn, that’s not a budgeting failure.
It’s an affordability problem.
@naoto_nation@YT_OnDeck The only reason this is a thing is our farm system can’t seem to compete in building home grown players consistently, the dodgers model was the best and we used to have the same model when scioscia was here
If the Angels REALLY wanted to be competitive in the coming years:
- trade Detmers/Adell/Walton/Soler/Suter/Yates/Siri
- draft best player available (ovr good draft)
- call up Raudi/Rada to play RF/CF
- spend $ in FA to make the team better
- aim for above .500 in 2027
BOOMER PARENT: “You spend way too much on food.”
GEN Z: “I make almost every meal at home.”
BOOMER PARENT: “Then why are your grocery bills so high?”
GEN Z: “Dropped about $280 this week.”
BOOMER PARENT: “For one person? That’s impossible.”
GEN Z: “Ground beef is $8 a pound. Eggs are pushing $6. Even basics aren’t cheap anymore.”
BOOMER PARENT: “You’re buying the wrong things.”
GEN Z: “Discount store. Generic brands. Digital coupons. I already cut every corner.”
BOOMER PARENT: “We used to feed five people on less than that.”
GEN Z: “Yeah… three decades ago.”
BOOMER PARENT: “Sounds like excuses.”
Meanwhile, major grocery chains continue posting billions in annual profits.
Food prices have climbed by more than 30% over the past few years.
But apparently the real problem is that I don’t know how to buy groceries.
@skumWgmi Go get 4 bags of concrete and flush them down the toilet slowly
Also, get a sawzall
—the same sawzall you can use on flock cameras just a different blade—
and knotch cut all the load bearing beams
Fuck landlord swine 🖕
My landlord complained that property taxes went up $1,800 this year.
Raised my rent $2,400 to cover it.
Passed on $600 more than it cost him and called it a necessary adjustment.
Now I'm paying his tax bill plus his profit margin on his tax bill.
I don't understand this fucking system anymore.
