Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin@Adebo_ogund
I joined leaders of opposition political parties from across the country today in Ibadan for a national summit hosted by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
It was a significant convergence of voices and perspectives, bringing together respected statesmen and political actors including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, David Mark, among others, all committed to deliberating on the future of our nation.
The Ibadan Declaration issued at the end of the summit reflects a shared concern about the direction of our democracy and the urgent need to safeguard the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and credible electoral processes.
Central to our discussions was the collective resolve to defend Nigeria’s multi-party democracy, ensure free and transparent elections, and work towards stronger collaboration among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As leaders, we have a duty to engage constructively, speak truthfully, and act in the best interest of the Nigerian people.
The conversations held today are part of a broader democratic process, one that must remain anchored on accountability, justice, and the collective will of the people.
I commend our amiable Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and the good people of Oyo State for providing a conducive environment for this important national dialogue.
Nigeria must work, and it will require deliberate, united efforts to achieve that goal.
