Sorry to jump in on a private convo but this thread appeared on my FYP. The person who did that did it in locked private spaces - she apologized & I am not going after her. To some degree I’m a public figure — if I went after everyone who talks shit to their friends in private I’d have no time to do my work. I AM going after those who made that a reason to spread lies PUBLICLY, impersonated me with intent to damage my reputation, engaged in targeted online harassment, sent doctored screenshots to my colleagues, contacted my team in an effort to injure my career (🙄🙄🙄). Even after I made it clear that I didn’t actually do what they accused me of, they left the damaging statements public and the harassment and stalking continued. They then tracked down my phone number and addresses, and sent harassing & threatening messages and actual mail. That escalation makes it both a civil AND a criminal matter and I’m not taking it lightly. As soon as it was taken offline it became possible to track down two individuals participating. Those individuals provided extensive identifying information on others involved in the online & offline campaign. The extensive bullying I’ve seen within a fandom for a show *I have nothing to do with* is shocking, and frankly really heartbreaking, given the message of the show. This shit happens to people all the time who don’t have the means to defend themselves, or the mental health to withstand it. I am very fortunate to have the resources to make an example out of these people and I will. Basically they messed with the wrong one this time. (Feel free to retweet this)
